Air Seychelles offers insight into the aviation industry for Careers Week Air Seychelles played a significant role in this year’s Careers Week, an annual initiative organised by the Ministry of Education to provide students and jobseekers with insights into various careers, training and employment opportunities. This year’s event, themed “Making the right career choice for a successful future”, was launched on Monday 08 July 2024. As the national airline, Air Seychelles welcomed school children to explore career opportunities in the aviation industry, conducted on-site visits on Mahe and Praslin, and participated in school presentations. On Tuesday 09th July, staff members Stephanie Nicholas and Sheila Banane delivered a presentation at Praslin Secondary School about careers in Air Seychelles, focusing on roles such as Guest Services Agents and Ramp functions. Students then visited Praslin Airport, where they interacted with flight crew and ground staff. On Wednesday 10th July, Christiana Labrosse, Guest Contact Centre Manager, presented to P5 students at the La Rosiere Primary School, emphasizing front office roles. The week concluded with a visit from ten students from the School for the Exceptional Child to the Head Office on Mahe. They toured the technical operations hangar, observed equipment demonstrations by engineering and IT staff, and learned about different company roles. The visit ended with a performance by the Air Seychelles Choir, which was particularly enjoyed by the attendees. Speaking of the visit, Miss Vernette Celestine from the School for the Exceptional Child expressed, “It is very heartwarming to have been invited, especially since we rarely get included in such activities regarding careers and employment. It has been an eye opening experience for all of us who attended. The choir performing for us at the end was a very touching gesture! Thank you Air Seychelles.” Sandy Benoiton, CEO of Air Seychelles, highlighted the airline’s commitment “At Air Seychelles, where our workforce consists mainly of Seychellois, we are enthusiastic to participate in any initiative that will encourage our future candidates to join our line of work. It has been a pleasure to host these visits and we take the opportunity to thank the schools who have both invited us to their grounds for talks as well as come to us for a tour.” The Careers Week concluded on Friday 12th July 2024.

In 2021, Air Seychelles answered the Tourism Department's call to adopt a school under the 'Lospitalite Campaign'. A campaign geared to equip young children enrolled in their school's tourism clubs with the know how and skills they will need once they reach employment age. The airline was lucky enough to be paired with the School for the Exceptional Child. A blessing, since we had been involved with the institution for many years before that. Today, we were proud to attend the school's celebratory 30th anniversary assembly, and were in awe of all that had been prepared and no doubt rehearsed for many weeks by the students and staff. Congratulations and a very Happy Anniversary to our little friends and staff of this wonderful learning centre. You can always count on our support!

Air Seychelles was invited to participate at the Independent School's Tourism Fair this morning at their Ile du Port Campus, and a very enthusiastic team made sure the national airline was well represented. It was a pleasure to showcase our lesser known jobs which although operate more in the background rather than customer facing, are instrumental to the success of the company. The students, who were full of questions, were explained the duties of our engineers, ramp agents, catering department and the functionalities of the props on display. Thank you Independent School Seychelles for this very productive morning and for allowing us a chance to engage with the future generation. We hope to welcome them to the aviation industry in a few years.

Air Seychelles and SriLankan Airlines announce codeshare partnership Air Seychelles, the Republic of Seychelles’ national airline and Sri Lankan Airlines, the flag carrier of Sri Lanka, have announced a new code-sharing partnership, expanding the number of destinations accessible to customers from the paradise islands flying between Mahe and Colombo. Over 20 destinations are included in the partnership, which includes much requested ones such as Sydney and Melbourne in Australia as well as other popular stops in India, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.  SriLankan Airlines’ Passengers will also be able to fly from Colombo to Mahé with the activation of the codeshare partnership.  This new codeshare agreement will allow Air Seychelles and SriLankan Airlines to place their codes on each other’s flights and enable passengers to continue their journey conveniently using a single booking and with their baggage checked in all the way to the final destination. It also means passengers can book their travels with both airlines, through online travel agencies, as well as with local travel agents. In June last year, when Air Seychelles launched the Colombo service, the two airlines signed an initial interline agreement that introduced multiple cities within the south-east Asia region to the local market’s choice of destinations. Sandy Benoiton, Air Seychelles’ Chief Executive Officer shares “now that we have been flying to Colombo for over 9 months, the twice-weekly flights have proven successful. The next step to solidifying our relationship is with this code-share, allowing even more passengers the convenience of a single ticket to more points served by our partner in Asia and Australia. Richard Nuttall, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines stated, “We are pleased to boost our codeshare network and presence in the African region through this new partnership. We look forward to working with Air Seychelles to provide our customers even more African destination options in the coming years.” Flights under the codeshare agreement are available to book now and will begin operating in April 2024.
