Alfa Laval accelerates energy transition in heavy industries toward net zero. 🌱🏭 According to the United Nations, the world is facing some big challenges - one being that energy demand will increase by 54 percent by 2050. During the same period, we need to double the global rate of energy efficiency improvements until 2030 to reach net zero by 2050 (International Energy Agency). We face a dual challenge - to reduce emissions throughout the industrial sector and beyond, while simultaneously supporting a rapidly growing demand for more energy production and clean energy innovation.💡🌍 "The industry plays a key role in reaching net zero. 🔑 Digitalization is key in the energy transition towards net zero. 💻 Data centres are at the heart of the digital economy, yet they are incredibly energy-intensive, consuming vast amounts of electricity and water each year. 🔥 But they also generate a large amount of heat. This valuable heat can be repurposed, and by 2030, waste heat recovery could save enough energy to heat 300 million homes in Europe. 🏠 Alfa Laval is at the forefront, transforming data centres to become more sustainable. Our heat transfer expertise and innovative heat exchangers keep servers cool and repurpose this excess heat, that can be used for example district heating, greenhouse warming and fish farming.🌐 🌱 The Nordics lead by example, with our technology contributing to warming over 7,000 homes in Denmark alone. Meet Ninky Miles 🌟 We are shining a spotlight on Ninky Miles, an exceptional person who owns a remarkable machine, that proves that quality craftsmanship lasts. 🥛🧈 Each week at her home in Australia, Ninky makes butter from fresh milk using an ancient Alfa separator that is still going strong. 🇦🇺 🌏 Here she shares her story with us. "I am 76 years of age and live with my husband, Graeme, in a small village called Muttama, situated between Cootamundra and Gundagai in New South Wales, Australia,” she says. Ninky’s parents owned a farm, and the family always had a couple of cows which the kids had to milk. She left school at 15, and went straight to work on properties with cattle, sheep, and show-jumping horses. 👰🤵 Fast forward a few years and she had married Graeme and moved with their two sons to Delegate, a small town in New South Wales. She was able to take her two Jersey cows with her and would milk them and make butter using a hand separator. A neighbour who was getting a bit too old to milk his cow, had heard about Ninky milking and making butter and asked if she could milk his cow for a few months until his new calf was big enough to drink all the milk. Ninky agreed and in came the cow, plus the little Alfa separator. “How great,” she thought when she saw the separator, “electric and easy.” 🎁 A couple of months later, the cow and the calf went home. When the neighbour came to collect them, Ninky sadly handed him back the Alfa Separator. “No,” the neighbour told her, “You can keep him, he’s yours.” Ninky used the separator in Delegate for around 20 years before she and her family bought some land in Queensland with cows, where they used it for another 15 years. 🐑🏇 🐄 Since then, the family has moved to Muttama where they have retired on 30 acres with sheep and horses. Ninky says: “We didn’t have a milk cow for a few years but we both agree that bought milk and butter is not that nice and so, two cows later, the Alfa came out of retirement.” Ninky uses the separator five days out of 10 making butter which she swaps for eggs and vegetables. “I've had the Alfa for 44 years, and it has been a great little machine. I hope it goes for another 20 years, though I probably won't be milking by then,” Ninky says. #AlfaLaval #PioneeringPositiveImpact #Innovation #Sustainability

Excellence in training at Alfa Laval India's Field Service Engineers Academy Alfa Laval’s Field Service Engineers Academy (FSE Academy) is an innovative initiative designed to cultivate fresh Diploma Engineers into highly skilled professionals. With India taking the lead in this transformative program, the academy addresses a critical need for technically proficient and customer-focused engineers. This effort underscores Alfa Laval’s commitment to excellence and innovation in engineering services. The first engineers began training in August 2023 and concluded in July 2024. 🔍 The Concept of the Academy The FSE Academy is founded on the principle of bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world engineering demands. By selecting fresh Diploma engineers through campus placements from reputed Engineering Colleges, the academy provides a structured one-year training program. This comprehensive curriculum divided into 2 phases, equips engineers with the technical expertise, practical experience, and professional skills needed to excel in their roles. 🤖 Generative AI - Hype or Hope? AI is not a new field of science. In the 1950s scientists discussed machine learning and the term Artificial Intelligence was mentioned as early as 1955. At Alfa Laval we use AI to optimize processes and automate production and in our AI Centre of Excellence, we explore new ways to create business value by using AI and Generative AI. 💡 Generative AI and Large Language Models, LLM are relatively new and it's a fast-changing landscape. This will change the way we think about content, the way we search for it, and the way we curate it. It will also change the way we make decisions around all the data we have. “Generative AI is a valuable enabler for how we can achieve scalability for Alfa Laval towards our 2030 ambition of becoming a 100 billion SEK company. This is a fantastic opportunity for how we can leverage technology to generate bottom-line value for Alfa Laval”, says Susanne Thorskov Hansen, Chief Information Officer. 🌐✨ Many companies are thinking about Generative AI, talking about it and believing in its opportunities. But that will not make any difference. If companies want to realize opportunities, they must get started and explore the potential. Some areas where GenAI can be integrated to support organizations: 📈 Productivity - making summaries of documents, preparing and creating actions from meetings. 🔄 Process automation - making suggestions for improvement of processes.
