Om oss

In 1960, Åke Nordin founded Fjällräven in the Swedish town of Örnsköldsvik. Since then, Fjällräven has made a commitment to high quality and high-end design, while staying true to our mission of developing timeless, functional and durable outdoor equipment, acting responsible towards people, animals and nature and inspiring people to get outside. We want to inspire and enable more people to experience nature. We do this by developing clothing and equipment that make the outside safer, warmer, dryer and generally more enjoyable. And by running events that provide the framework and support to make nature more accessible. We’re a team of nature lovers, some more experienced than others, that likes to spend as much time outdoors as possible. In our offices and our stores we are designers, product developers, buyers, administrators, marketers, communicators, sales staff, customer service reps and business developers. In nature though, we’re all the same. Do you want to help us to inspire and enable more people to walk with nature? We're always interested in people who want to join our trek. Fjällräven Classic South Korea started today!  Over the next 3 days, hikers will experience the beauty of Jeju Island south of the mainland. The 56 km trek takes them through the forests in the national park of Mount Hallasan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to Korea’s tallest mountain at 1,950 m above sea level and then downhill to the coastal trails and beaches. And, of course, they’ll stay fuelled with plenty of delicious Korean food along the way!

50 years ago, after our founder, Åke Nordin, decided to never feel cold again, we launched the Fjällräven Expedition Down Jacket. This now iconic jacket has changed very little over the last 50 years, testament to it’s functionality, durability, and timeless design. It’s still part of our collection and sits at the top of the entire 1974 Expedition Series. A lot has changed over these five decades - the hairstyles alone make us question society as a whole - so we feel it’s worth celebrating when something has proved so timeless. Discover the 1974 Expedition series here https://lnkd.in/gKBfmMiB and keep following as we unveil a new limited edition version of this heart and body-warming icon soon.     #LongLiveMyExpedition

Photographer Björn Gillsäter’s Images of Hope captures the positive impact of conservation efforts on the Falkland Islands, where biodiversity has flourished thanks to sustainable farming and restoration initiatives. Björn follows in the footsteps of his father, Sven, on expeditions where he documented wildlife, including the iconic penguins, while wearing Fjällräven gear. While threats like climate change remain, Björn believes that hope lies in humanity’s ability to protect nature. His work continues the legacy of using storytelling and photography to highlight the beauty of the world.

‘Fashion doesn’t interest me. I’ve always done things because I need them myself.’ - Fjällräven founder, Åke Nordin.

A refreshing approach to designing clothing and one which we continue to follow as we stubbornly say no to short-term trends. We’d much rather see our clothing in a second-hand store than on a catwalk so please forgive us for not releasing new products just for the sake of being trendy. In fact, 85% of our sales each year are of designs carried over from previous seasons.

Where would we be without curiosity?

Humanity’s innate curiosity has been the spark for our most important scientific discoveries, driven exploration of our planet, and led to countless happy-ever-afters.     But, in the modern world where we’ve become accustomed to instant gratification and have seemingly all the answers at our fingertips, many of us have lost touch with our curiosity and the skills we develop as a result.     Explorer Francois Malherbe’s curiosity led him to search for answers by learning the ancient skill of tracking. Follow him through the wilderness of the Okavango Delta as he teaches others to slow down to the pace of the African plains, using tracking to hone one’s curiosity and develop patience, observation, and respect for the land we walk on.

Take a few minutes for yourself and watch Francois explain things in his own words:

Honestly? We don’t really know. What we do know is that it takes an incredible amount of specialist knowledge, passion, dedication and hard work. Thankfully, there are people out there doing this important and inspiring work. Take the Fjällgås project for example. This has been running since 1975 and aims to save an endangered species with fewer than 200 individuals remaining. We provide financial support to the project and try to highlight the important work of those who dedicate themselves to these rare birds.     Here’s to those in the field. Thank you.    https://lnkd.in/dfuM4sk3
