MAX IV Laboratory is a national synchrotron laboratory for research performed usingn X-rays. MAX IV Laboratory has operated successfully for more than 30 years and is currently commissioning and operating the new MAX IV synchrotron facility in Lund. Up to 3 000 scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world will come to the MAX IV Laboratory every year to use the x-rays and do research in areas such as physics, chemistry, geology, engineering, medicine, materials science, structural biology and nanotechnology. The MAX IV facility, the largest and most ambitious Swedish investment in research infrastructure, is the most advanced source of x-rays worldwide replacing the former MAX-lab. Some 240 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory and we will welcome many skilled and curious persons to our staff during the coming years. MAX IV Laboratory is located in Lund, Sweden.

Congratulations to the winner of #MAXIVUserMeeting2025 #Poster #Award, Lorenzo Tallarini and Stefano Toso from Chemical Physics Dept., Lund University with their poster tittled: Probing Ultrafast Structural Dynamics in #Perovskite Mesocrystals. The team exploited an ultrafast #laser pulse at #FemtoMAX followed by an equally fast #xray probe to understand how light influences the structure of materials at the atomic scale. ”This study is relevant to establish light-matter interactions in nanostructured #semiconductors, that are promising materials for applications in electronics and #quantumoptics,” Lorenzo said. #Congratulations!

The last day of the 36th MAX IV user meeting concerns the scientific opportunities that the proposed ingenious upgrade of the MAX IV 3 GeV ring named MAX 4U. Realized, it will reposition MAX IV as one of the most brightest synchrotron light sources in the world, even after the completion of known upgrades of other facilities in the world. In his presentation, the MAX IV Accelerator Director, Pedro Fernando Tavares, provides the technical rationale that makes the proposal extremely cost effective and still minimizes the dark period of the upgrade.
