Minesto is a world-leading marine energy technology developer with the mission to minimize the global carbon footprint of the energy industry by enabling commercial clean energy production from tidal streams and ocean currents. Minesto’s award-winning and patented product, the subsea kite technology called Deep Green, is applicable in areas where no other known technology can operate cost effectively. The company was founded in 2007 as a spin-off from aircraft manufacturer Saab. Today, listed on the Nasdaq First North stock exchange with some 60 employees and operations in Sweden, Wales, Northern Ireland and Taiwan, Minesto is a driving force in the creation of an emerging renewable energy industry. Today we were honoured to welcome the EU Commission Director-General MARE (Maritime Affairs and Fisheries), Charlina Vitcheva to our demonstration site in Vestmanna, Faroe Islands. The Director-General was accompanied by several team members, as well as the CEO of Ocean Energy Europe, Rémi Gruet Together with utility company Elfelagið SEV - Electrical company and the Mayor of Vestmanna, we had the opportunity to welcome the delegation and showcase Minesto and experience the Dragon 12 tidal energy kite! Together with our collaboration partner Elfelagið SEV - Electrical company we were honoured to meet with Swedish Minister for EU Affairs Jessika Roswall and Faroese Minister of Nordic Cooperation Bjarni Kárason Petersen yesterday in the Faroe Islands.
