We’re aiming for Zero Waste by 2050. On Zero Waste Day, we reaffirm our commitment to implementing and promoting responsible practices related to waste generation and management in the medtech industry. With over 2 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste generated annually1, it's crucial to adopt sustainable practices wherever possible. To help us reach our goals, we’re focusing on the following initiatives, designed to prevent unnecessary waste in areas such as: 👉 Our product design: we design solutions to eliminate unnecessary waste, e.g. dressings with an extended wear time to avoid unnecessary dressing changes, as well as the use of other medical devices and consumables like gloves, aprons, etc. needed for dressing changes. 👉 Manufacturing: we work continuously to optimise processes in order to meet our near-term target of zero manufacturing waste to landfill by 2030. This includes diverting waste from landfill through practices such as reuse and recycling (39% of waste in 2024) or through sending waste to incineration with energy recovery (44% of waste in 2024). 👉 Natural resources: apart from solid waste, our zero-waste mindset extends to natural resources needed to manufacture Mölnlycke’s solutions, including closed-loop systems for heat and wastewater recovery at some of our factories. - Moving forward, we are also exploring circular economy models for medical devices, including chemical recycling. It’s the area where cross-sector collaboration might bring a disruptive transformation in healthcare. Read more about our work with sustainability: https://bit.ly/4l532Ri #ZeroWasteDay

Fresh news from EWMA 2025: A new study reports that switching patients with chronic wounds to the multi-layered, bordered silicone-coated foam dressing, Mepilex® Border Flex, alongside a clinician educational support programme, resulted in a significant reduction in the number of dressing changes being undertaken and a reduction in dressing-related costs. (1) The study, sponsored by Mölnlycke Health Care, and conducted across primary care facilities in Seville, Spain was today presented as an e-poster at the 35th Conference of the EWMA • European Wound Management Association 2025 in Barcelona, Spain by the principal investigator Dr Andres Roldan Valenzuela, Centro de Salud Mairena del Aljarafe – Cuidad Expo, Seville. Dr Andres Roldan Valenzuela, principal investigator, commented: “The results of this study clearly demonstrate how simple changes to a wound care treatment regime can bring about positive outcomes for both patients and healthcare providers. At a time when healthcare systems and staff are under increasing pressure on both cost and time it is encouraging that there are solutions to help drive efficiencies and improve outcomes for all involved.” ANDRES ROLDÁN #EWMA2025 References: 1. It was a real pleasure to host the Network with Mölnlycke event yesterday at EWMA • European Wound Management Association 2025. We welcomed around 60 guests to talk with us about the possibilities of partnerships to drive innovation. By collaborating with patients, clinicians, payers, and industry peers, we believe that we can move from being suppliers to true partners to address the challenges healthcare faces. #Healthcare #Medtech #SustainableHealthcare #Partnerships #Innovation Emma Wright
