  • Addressing some of today’s greatest challenges - energy security and climate change - requires clean, affordable, and adjustable baseload power. Hydropower is a proven solution, offering renewable baseload energy and essential grid flexibility. However, the sector faces significant barriers: it’s capital-intensive, slow to scale, and hindered by regulatory bottlenecks. The solution? Unlock more power from what we already have. That’s why we’re so excited about our latest investment, SeaPattern (subject to FDI approval). SeaPattern’s modular, floating hydrokinetic turbines are placed in an optimized microgrid, increasing the energy output of existing hydropower plants without new infrastructure or environmental harm. The system is scalable, affordable, and non-invasive, and can also serve as a standalone run-of-the-river solution in areas where traditional hydropower isn’t viable. Built on cutting-edge research from Linköping University, SeaPattern combines fluid mechanics with AI optimization to revolutionize hydropower. Co-founders Niklas Boman and Marcus F. bring deep expertise in hydrodynamics, AI-driven systems, and energy infrastructure, leveraging their backgrounds in space engineering and advanced mechanical systems with experience from European Space Agency, SAAB and Volvo Aero. In other words - exactly the team the grid needs. Anna Fredrixon “SeaPattern delivers hydropower as-a-service at a game-changing cost - an LCOE 4-5x lower than alternatives. Unlocking clean, stable energy at this scale and price point is a paradigm shift for the industry. Niklas and Marcus bring the deep-tech expertise and execution power to make it happen. We couldn’t be more excited to back them in scaling a world-class team and forging key partnerships in hydropower.” This is exactly the kind of energy solution we need - fast, scalable, and affordable. The future of clean energy won’t build itself. Let’s get to work.

🚀 Norrsken Launcher is investing in a new future for textile! Founded by Dr. Jade Abir Bouledjouidja, Renasens AB has cracked the code on recycling blended textiles, like polycotton, which make up 50% of global textile waste. Using a NASA-inspired process, they transform mixed waste into high-quality yarns with minimal energy use, without breaking down the fibers. With trials already showing promise and demand rising, Renasens AB is ready to scale and close the loop on textile waste. It’s a bold step towards solving one of the fashion industry's biggest environmental challenges and making textile recycling commercially viable. ♻️ Welcome to Norrsken, Jade Abir Bouledjouidja and team Renasens AB

  • 🚀 New team member alert! 🚀 We are excited to have Patrick Sarzio as our new Intern! Curious to learn more about Patrick? Check out our quick Q&A below 👇 👉 Tell us three facts about yourself! - After earning my Bachelor’s at the University of St. Gallen, I recently moved to Stockholm for my Master’s in Economics at SSE. Adjusting to Swedish style and seasons is a constant adventure — who knew that moving countries requires an entire wardrobe overhaul? - There’s nothing quite like a morning swim in one of Stockholm’s stunning lakes. Please ask me again in a few weeks if I still feel this way — temperatures seem to fall exponentially in Sweden. - The first Swedish phrase I was taught is “Jag är taggad”, meaning “I am excited.” And this couldn’t be more true — I’m genuinely excited about Sweden, Stockholm, and the future being built here at Launcher. Jag är taggad. 👉 What will you be working on? As an intern at Launcher, I’ll support the team across a range of fund activities, including evaluating potential investment opportunities and deep-diving into the scientific research landscape in the Nordics. 👉 What are you most excited about with your new role? I’m here to make a difference and am extremely excited to work alongside such an experienced, motivated, and driven team in supporting transformative innovations that can ultimately change the world for the better. 👉 Lastly, where can we find you? At Norrsken House, Birger Jarlsgatan 57. Ping me on LinkedIn or at patrick@launcher.vc.

  • Launcher + Renasens = 💚 The textile industry is a significant contributor to global pollution, responsible for up to 10% of greenhouse gas emissions, 20% of water pollution, and 35% of microplastic pollution in oceans. Despite this, textile waste keeps piling up and only 1% is recycled. A major challenge has been efficiently recycling blended textiles, such as polycotton which make up 50% of global textile waste. That's why we’re excited to announce our investment in Renasens. Renasens, founded by Dr. Jade Abir Bouledjouidja, a chemical engineer with a PhD from Aix-Marseille University, has developed a breakthrough technology at KTH that finally makes textile recycling commercially viable. The technology was originally inspired by NASA's use of supercritical fluids to clean spacesuits. It efficiently recycles polycotton, without depolymerisation or degradation, turning it into high-quality recycled polyester and cotton yarns with minimal waste, lower energy use, and extraction of additives and colourants. The result is recycled yarn that’s not only sustainable but also cost-effective. With a proven track record of scaling complex innovations and unmatched dedication, Jade Abir Bouledjouidja is on a mission that we’re proud to join – turning waste into resources and closing the textile loop. We look forward to rolling up our sleeves and working together. Bienvenue à Norrsken Launcher, Renasens! 🚀

🚀 New team member alert 🚀 We are super happy to have Emma Kjellander joining us as Impact Manager. Let's get to know Emma better - read our interview here 👇 👉 Tell us 3 facts about yourself! - I spent the past six years living in Copenhagen, persistently trying to become danish. I basically made it my whole personality that I’d never be one of those Swedes that move back to Stockholm. So well. That’s embarrassing now. - Denmark made me a sourdough snob. And I’m the worst kind - a snob who has absolutely no clue of how to make it myself, but complain when the buns from the bakery isn’t perfect. - I’ve been running for the past 10 years, but is still too scared to run a race of any kind. Maybe 2025 will be my year! 👉 What will you work with? As Impact Manager, I’ll be heading our impact initiatives across the fund. That includes integrating impact and ESG assessments into our investment process, supporting our portfolio companies with tracking and optimizing their impact, as well as reporting and regulatory compliance. 👉 What are you most excited about with your new role? Definitely working with the exceptional founders in the Launcher portfolio. The state of the world calls for collaborative effort, and the combination of groundbreaking science, kick-ass founders and risk-willing capital is a corner stone in solving the societal issues we’re facing.
