AlterPacks had a blast at the Ulu Pandan Keep Out of Landfills Initiative (UP KOOL) day! ♻️ We were thrilled to be part of this community-focused event organized by Green Action For Communities (GAC) that was held at the Ghim Moh Pavillion. A special thanks to Mr Christopher De Souza, MP for Ulu Pandan, who visited all the booths and also came by to connect with the Alterpacks team. It was a fantastic opportunity for the team to meet with residents of all ages and share the AlterPacks solution.  Especially as it was located next to the famous Ghim Moh hawker centre, allowing them to use the containers instead of plastics for their packed foods.  It was an amazing Saturday filled with sustainability, creativity, and community spirit. #communityspirit #endplasticpollution #innovativesolutions

Being featured in The Straits Times has been an incredible reflection point for our journey at AlterPacks.  It takes us back to our very first payment—a princely sum of $28.62 after 3.5 years of R&D! We’ve navigated the rocky start-down path every start-up faces and picked up some valuable lessons along the way. Being called a "rubbish idea" was a reality check, but it also fueled our determination to push forward. These impact investors believed in our mission and the potential of climate tech, and their support has been instrumental in getting us to where we are today -  Temasek Foundation, DBS Foundation, SEEDS Capital, Earth Venture Capital, Plug and Play APAC and our two angels. So let’s cut through the hype: • Money isn’t everything: If quick cash is your goal, there are easier paths. Growth will take time.  • Start-downs are inevitable: Don’t let the name fool you; the start-up journey is often an uphill battle. There are downs before the ups. • Navigate the crowd: Balance cynicism, skepticism, and blind faith—and they will surround you in your journey. So here’s to all the founders grinding it out. Let’s keep pushing boundaries and defying expectations! 💪🌱. #startups #innovation #sustainablebusiness #founders https://lnkd.in/gt5ECCxy

One day, one trip, and numerous connections. It was a turnaround trip for the AlterPacks team of Steven Tan BH and Karen Cheah to Penang. With Penang’s strong sustainability focus—exemplified by Georgetown’s UNESCO World Heritage status—it’s a synergistic market for AlterPacks’ 100% plant-based, plastic-free packaging made from agricultural waste. And there were standout meetings with the inspiring team at Kommune Sustainable Lifestyle Sdn Bhd - Allen Tan and Ai Jean Cheah. 🌿KOMMUNE is the conscious lifestyle arm of The Habitat Group, a B Corp-certified business focused on doing good for people and the planet. They align with brands that share their commitment to sustainability, with proceeds supporting conservation efforts through The Habitat Foundation. We’re excited about the opportunities ahead as AlterPacks enters the Penang market and grateful for partners like Kommune who share our vision for a greener future. 🌱. #greencities #georgetown #sustainablesolutions

What not to do with your Alterpacks container when it's tightly covered? Don’t use your fingernails to tear it or pry it open! We’re so used to flimsy plastics that we forget a durable plant fiber material can be reused over and over. Just lift the lid and close it again—no tearing necessary. And when it's too soft after a few washes, tear it up and compost it! Let's rethink waste, not destroy it! #innovationmatters #sustainablesolutions #ecopackaging

The panel discussion, moderated by Thomas Milburn, Senior VP, Chief Sustainability Office; with Cherish Tota, Daniel Osborne, Saurabh Mangla and Simon Rosenberger, LL.M.provided insightful exchanges on regenerative sourcing. It's amazing what can be achieved in an 8-hour marathon session! Collaborating with brilliant minds from DBS Bank, we developed actionable plans to tackle challenges and drive growth for our startup. A huge shout out of thanks to the great team of Fred John ROZARIO, Nitin Bhor, Melanie Xiao, CPA, Karen Chin, Bharath Reddy VANUKURU, Clara Wiguno, Jaslene LOH and Karen Koh. At AlterPacks we love a good challenge! Especially when it comes from Kuang-Wei PENG, Section Chief of the News Department at Sanli E-TV 三立電視.  Could an AlterPacks bowl filled with soup defy the laws of physics? Sure, our bowls are plastic-free and home compostable, but functionality is king (or queen) in our kitchen. So, a bowl filled with delicious ‘bakwan kepiting’ (crab meatballs) soup from True Blue Cuisine... was challenged to defy gravity.  What every food delivery driver navigating bad traffic might have to combat against.  Stay tuned for the results coming to his news story in September! #Alterpacks #SustainablePackaging #ChallengeAccepted #WontSpillTheSoup
