Baker Tilly Singapore recently hosted a 3-day outreach programme for over 30 Year 4 students from Raffles Institution during their GAP semester. The students were eager to learn more about our firm and explore careers in the accountancy and professional services industry.   Our representatives from Assurance and Tax conducted an on-campus workshop, introducing fundamental accounting, auditing, and tax principles to the students. We also took the opportunity to introduce our firm and give them a glimpse of what it is like to work with us.   Day 2 saw the students visiting our office where they connected with our business leaders over lunch and got a firsthand look at how we operate. Our Partners candidly shared their experience and knowledge with the students, who posed very interesting questions. We also invited a guest speaker from Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), who provided valuable information about obtaining a professional certification within the Accounting industry.   On Day 3, our Executive Director – Human Capital engaged the students in a workshop covering essential skills like resume writing and interview techniques, while also sparking a discussion on the future of work – equipping the students with practical insights for their career paths ahead.   A huge thank you to Raffles Institution for helping to facilitate the event. Today, we collaborated with OCBC to organise a Mental Wellness Talk - Managing Workplace Anxiety for our colleagues. Listening and Empowering! After weeks of listening to our Assurance Team via Assurance Sensecheck, we compiled the findings and held sessions with our Partners, Managers, and Staff in batches last week and yesterday to communicate and discuss these insights. Assurance Sensecheck is an initiative to listen and understand what our people value about Baker Tilly Assurance, their learning aspirations, and how we can equip and empower them. During these sharing sessions, not only were measures introduced to equip our people, but our Partners also took time out of their busy schedules to share on their audit journeys, memorable stories, as well as useful tips. Susan Foong, Assurance Practice Leader, shared during these sessions; “We have a great assurance team, bonded by our desire to learn and grow, we can definitely do remarkable things together as a team!! The firm today is large enough to give all of you an enriching work experience while remain closely-knitted to listen to your interest and aspirations. The final day of our Baker Tilly Project Leadership Programme (PLP) 2024 was all about team building activities designed to challenge our Baker Tilly Seniors' leadership abilities in real-time. These outdoor activities not only sharpened their leadership skills but also reinforced the importance of trust within their teams, preparing them to confidently lead project teams moving forward. To conclude PLP 2024, we had a special moment where each participant received an envelope with notes of appreciation and well wishes written by their colleagues throughout the 3D2N bootcamp. We are incredibly heartened to see all our participants taking special care and effort in writing these notes - it truly highlights the strong sense of camaraderie within our teams. We are certain that our Baker Tilly Seniors are capable of incredible achievements moving forward - the sky truly is the limit!
