CLC is excited to announce that the City of Brisbane has officially joined the City Network for the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize (LKYWCP Network)! Hugh Lim, Executive Director, Centre for Liveable Cities, and Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner, Brisbane, signed the LKYWCP Network declaration during a visit by a delegation of Australian Mayors on 6 Feb 2025. The LKYWCP Network is a platform for LKYWCP alumni cities to connect and engage in creating and exchanging knowledge on building liveable and sustainable cities. Brisbane was recognised as a Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize Special Mention City in 2012 for transforming itself from a ‘country town’ into a vibrant metropolis. Brisbane City Council’s Urban Renewal Brisbane (URB) played a significant role in transforming what was once a ‘country town’ blighted by economic stagnation, sprawl and urban decay, into an economically, culturally and physically vibrant metropolis. Over a span of 20 years, URB’s sustained initiatives successfully revived local economies and inner-city living by regenerating derelict industrial sites and revitalising the city’s neglected riverfront. We look forward to welcoming other LKYWCP Special Mention cities into the Network soon. #clcsg #urban #cities #sustainablecities #liveablecities #resilientcities #LKYWCPNetwork

The fourth of 10 segments in this Liveability Framework (LF) series focuses on Integrated Master Planning and Development. This is one of the three systems underpinning the liveability framework. Given Singapore’s land and resource scarcity, it is necessary to adopt an integrated approach to master planning and development to ensure that our long-term needs can be met.
