Empact is excited to continue our journey in strengthening the volunteer management capabilities in the sector through the Volunteer Management Capability Development (VMCD) Consultancy Project, in partnership with National Council of Social Service (NCSS). 🚀 This 10-month consulting programme is designed to empower social service agencies (SSAs) and volunteer centres (VCs) to strategically harness the power of volunteers, boosting service quality and organisational productivity. Recently, we successfully concluded two Cohort Learn & Share sessions, where volunteer managers from the new cohort of 8 participating SSAs and 2 VCs came together to share their experiences, exchange best practices, and collaborate in an engaging and interactive environment. At Empact, we remain dedicated to empowering social service organisations and volunteer managers, driving meaningful impact, and fostering a spirit of collaboration within the volunteer management sector. Following our successful Singapore launch of the CAPS Doing Good Index (DGI) 2024, Empact was honoured to join our partners across Asia at the Doing Good Index 2026 Partner Workshop on 13 February 2025. Organised by the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS), the workshop was a valuable opportunity to reconnect with regional partners, exchange insights on the evolving philanthropy landscape, and discuss the collective role of different parties (regulators, corporates and social organisations) in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We also had insightful discussions on the upcoming DGI 2026 survey, exploring key themes and the research direction for the next iteration of the Index. It was a privilege to hear from fellow partners across Asia on the state of philanthropy in their economies, and we look forward to participating in the upcoming Doing Good Index 2026! 🚀 #CapacityBuilding #BridgingtheGap #EmpoweringGreaterImpact #DoingGoodIndex #philanthropy #SocialSector
The Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS) brought together our partners across Asia for the Doing Good Index 2026 Partner Workshop in Bangkok last week. It was a fantastic opportunity for our partners to meet in-person, share knowledge and exchange insights on the #socialsector landscape in each of their respective economies. Apart from kickstarting the Doing Good Index 2026, we had engaging discussions around the importance of #leadershipdevelopment in the social sector, as well as the sector's critical role in meeting the sustainable development goals (#SDGs) and addressing the persistent trust deficit across the region. Big thanks to all the partners who attended this event - we look forward to another year of fruitful collaborations! #DoingGoodIndex2026 #CAPS #Collaboration #SocialSector #Partnerships #PrivateSocialInvestment

At the recent Singapore launch of the Doing Good Index 2024, Peter Yang, CEO of Empact, shed light on key trends shaping the local philanthropy landscape. From shifting funding patterns to the evolving role of impact measurement, here are some key takeaways. 📈 Shifting Trends in Philanthropy While corporate donations are gradually declining, there is a noticeable rise in contributions from high-net-worth individuals. There is a growing interest in innovative financing mechanisms, such as pay-for-success and trading of outcomes. 🎯 From Outputs to Outcomes Funders are placing greater emphasis on impact measurement, shifting the focus from outputs to outcomes. Social Delivery Organisations (SDOs) face challenges in managing multiple impact measurement frameworks and building capacity for meaningful outcome tracking. 🤝 Strengthening Capacity & Collaboration Singapore has made significant progress in professionalising key job families and using technology to address manpower constraints. Collaboration and knowledge sharing within the social sector will be crucial for sustainable growth and greater impact. These insights highlight the diverse approaches, challenges, and opportunities shaping philanthropy landscape across these economies. Continued innovation, investment in capacity building, and cross-sector collaboration will be key to driving meaningful social change. Read on to explore deeper insights. 💡 #DoingGoodIndex #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #Singapore #HongKongSAR #MainlandChina #CSR #Nonprofit

Empact recently hosted the Singapore launch of the Doing Good Index 2024 on 11 February 2025, in partnership with Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS).💡 The event brought together over 100 participants from Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, Mainland China, India, Indonesia, and the United States. It was an engaging and thought-provoking session that united experts and practitioners to discuss local and cross-border philanthropy across Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, and Mainland China. The Doing Good Index assesses factors that enable or hinder private social investment across 17 Asian economies, based on survey data from social delivery organisations (SDOs) and expert consultations. It evaluates four key sub-indices: Regulations, Tax Incentives, Government Procurement, and Ecosystem. Our panel discussion was helmed by Vivica Xiong (Asian Charity Services), Dr. Yuxin LAN (Tsinghua University), and Peter Yang (Empact), who delved into policies and practices from their respective local perspectives, followed by a dynamic Q&A session. The insights from the session highlighted the diverse approaches and challenges within the philanthropic landscape across these economies. Continued collaboration, innovation, and investment in capacity building are key to driving positive social impact. Read on to explore the key findings and insights from the session. #DoingGoodIndex #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #Singapore #HongKongSAR #MainlandChina #CSR #Nonprofit

We recently concluded our 2nd session of the Volunteer Management Network with National Council of Social Service (NCSS)! ✨ On 22 January, we continued the 4-part series of the Volunteer Management Network (VMN) with our 2nd session, Building a Robust Volunteer Pipeline: Sustainable Approaches to Increase Overall Manpower Capacity. Bringing together close to 250 volunteer managers, the session focused on how social service agencies (SSAs) can effectively leverage volunteer resources to enhance their capacity and meet the evolving needs of service users. With insights from expert speakers — Eileen Chua (Volunteer Manager, SPD), Eric Hu (Volunteer Manager, Kampong Kapor Community Services), and Ming Xiu Cho (Founder and Executive Director, Campus PSY) — volunteer managers from people, private and public sectors, gained valuable knowledge on strategic and operational considerations for strengthening service delivery and organisational development. We look forward to continuing this journey of knowledge-sharing and collaboration in the remaining VMN sessions. 💡 #CapacityBuilding #BridgingtheGap #EmpoweringGreaterImpact
