Dr Hao Liang, Co-director of SGFC and instructor for the Sustainable Investment Management Course on iLearn, emphasized the importance of combating "competence-washing" during an interview with The Edge Singapore's Jovi Ho: https://lnkd.in/gyJbf6Fm. He stated, "Part of the reason is we don’t have sufficiently standardized certificates or a competency framework. What IBF and MAS are trying to do actually impressed a lot of people from the US and Europe. The government actually tells you: ‘Okay, if you want to claim you’re an expert, you need to take these courses.’" To gain expertise in integrating #sustainable investment concepts into #portfoliomanagement practices, financial professionals can enrol in Dr. Liang's Sustainable Investment Management Course on iLearn. This course equips participants to drive #sustainableinvestment strategies within their organizations. Enrol now at: https://lnkd.in/guFgbYHf.

"By leveraging #Gen-AI, asset management firms can enhance their decision-making processes, improve client satisfaction, and maintain a competitive edge in an increasingly data-driven financial landscape" said John Fahey, Member of IMAS's Digital Innovation Committee. While still at infancy, Generative AI is undoubtedly making waves in the asset management industry especially in areas of #customerengagement, #operationalefficiencies, and better #informationanaylsis. John believes that investment professionals who embrace AI as a tool will thrive in the transformed landscape. To aid the industry, IMAS has launched the IMAS Fintech Directory accessible to all its members, to encourage the industry to digitalise. The Fintech Directory will enable industry professionals to find relevant solutions, access comprehensive #fintech profiles and information, as well as identify new areas of collaboration with company-specific problem statements. Contact the IMAS Secretariat at digital@imas.org.sg if you are keen to be listed. Check out the article here: https://lnkd.in/gHhF65iK #imas #investments #fintechs

My heartiest congratulations to the Marketnode team for the launch of the funds settlement industry infrastructure! What started as an industry problem statement raised by IMAS (Investment Management Association of Singapore) and NMPG Rajeev Tummala Girish Pandit to eliminate manual workflow and reduce funds settlement time, will become a reality going forward. This would not be possible without the study by Singapore Funds Industry Group Infrastructure and Innovation WG Justin Ong Armin Choksey Anurag Pandey which set out the building blocks for the conceptualisation of this industry-wide initiative. Heartened to see the concerted effort from various parts of the funds ecosystem representing asset managers, transfer agents, fund administrators, trustees, distributors and banks coming together over the past 1.5 years to co-create this infrastructure. Also very much appreciate Rehan Ahmed Anshuman Asthana Hong Yee Law and team’s tireless commitment and tenacity to follow through this project, as well as Beng Hong LEE ‘s guidance to the team. Your contributions will go a long way to transform the Singapore funds industry. 👉 Fundnode white paper for reference: https://lnkd.in/gFtPcdRp #Singaporefunds #assetmanagement

Last Wednesday, IMAS hosted the Lunchtime Panel Discussion: Navigating Data-Driven Investment Strategies and Analysis of Risk & Performance Survey 2024 where the findings of our Survey of Risk and Performance Practices 2024 were released. We would like to thank our sponsor FactSet for making this event possible. Trevor Persaud, IMAS Risk & Performance Committee Chairman, and Bill Maldonado, CEO of Eastspring Investments, opened the event. Grateful to Eastspring for providing the event venue! The event also saw an insightful presentation by Leon Chuang, Chief Solution Officer at Criat, who spoke about utilising early warning signals to avoid systematic losses on portfolio holdings. The survey was carried out under the auspices of the IMAS Risk & Performance Committee (RPC) with Patrick Yeo, Partner of PwC, providing an analysis of the survey results before panellists from RPC including Pierre Soens, Director of BlackRock, Cédric Torres, Director of Eastspring Investments, Madhu Gayer, Managing Director of GIC Private Limited, Konstantina Founta, Head of Risk Analytics of State Street Bank and Trust, Fang Feng, Executive Director, Head of Regional Risk Management of UOB Asset Management took the stage for the panel discussion. The discussion was moderated by Simon van Dijk, Director - Middle Office Solutions - Southeast Asia of FactSet. Overall, encouraging results across the industry - indicating a high standard of risk and performance measurement.
