Singapore is the world’s 4th most innovative country and the 1st in Asia, according to the Global Innovation Index (#GII) 2024.   Announced by World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO, the GII ranked 133 countries using 78 indicators that measured a country’s innovation capabilities. Singapore has maintained our lead as the world’s 1st in innovation input (factors that enable innovative activities), and our innovation output (actual results of innovative activity) also moved up one position, to 11th.    As we celebrate, we want to thank our stakeholders and partners across government, people, and private sectors, who have worked with us over the years to build the world-class innovation ecosystem we have today. It was a pleasure hosting the Penn State Dickinson Law delegation on their first study visit to Singapore. In addition to visiting IPOS, the delegation heard more about Singapore International Commercial Court, Singapore International Arbitration Centre, Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC), and Maxwell Chambers, which together provide a full suite of dispute resolution services to parties from anywhere in the world.   Earlier this year, we had co-organised IP dispute resolution seminars in New York (NY) and Washington DC with Penn State Dickinson Law and WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, and we’re looking forward to our March 2025 series in NY and Chicago (www.ipos.gov.sg/USA2025). How does IP valuation come into play in disputes? Join us on 29 Nov as Asia Pacific Institute of Experts (APIEx) hosts a half-day symposium to discuss valuations in the contexts of disputes. IPOS’ Principal Legal Counsel, Gabriel Ong will be giving the opening remarks for the final panel discussion on the unique challenges and strategies to deploy in disputes. We are proud to be a part of the symposium together with the IVAS - Institute of Valuers and Appraisers, Singapore (IVAS) and the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC).
