LKY: THE EXPERIENCE: BTS Series Beyond the Veil (Part 5) A truly heartfelt dedication to the final years of Kwa Geok Choo's life and her bond with Lee Kuan Yew, we invited visitors to uncover and personally complete the story to foster a deeper sense of involvement and investment. Upon pressing buttons on a panel, visitors revealed various facets of the couple's relationship during Kwa Geok Choo's final years, with corresponding visual and auditory elements bringing their story to life. For example, a softly playing radio featuring Mrs Lee's favorite song or a flickering computer screen representing the video calls Lee Kuan Yew would have with his wife during business trips. Intentionally creating a boundary between the visitor and the room, we inserted a partition with the panel of buttons, offering a glimpse into a private moment while respecting the couple's privacy as unobtrusive observers. #DesignedByLucid #lucidexperiences #behindthescenes

LKY: THE EXPERIENCE: BTS Series Changing World (Part 4) How do we translate the period of upheaval that comes with moving to a new environment? By crafting a surreal interpretation of the familiar. As Lee Kuan Yew embarked on his new life in England, the belief systems he had inherited while growing up in colonial Singapore soon began to crumble. We wanted to showcase this feeling through an environment that is both familiar and unfamiliar with the sky, while introducing surreal elements like windows opening up to anecdotes from Lee Kuan Yew's time in England. Included among these anecdotes are Lee Kuan Yew's lesser-known yet relatable moments of adapting to a new environment. For instance, we showcased how Mrs Lee improvised Singaporean dishes using the available ingredients in England, such as transforming fettuccine into fried kway teow and substituting paprika for Asian chilli. #DesignedByLucid #lucidexperiences #behindthescenes

LKY: THE EXPERIENCE: BTS Series Schoolboy Days (Part 3) What's more engaging than a secret entrance behind a cabinet? When we were designing Schoolboy Days, we aimed to create a sense of discovery starting with the entrance to the room, featuring a bookcase sliding door as a transition moment into the classroom. Our goal was to evoke a feeling that visitors were being transported to another world where Lee Kuan Yew was merely a schoolboy in the 1930s. To enhance visitor engagement through gestures, touchpoints, and body movements, we encouraged visitors to explore each school table and discover bite-sized story moments along with corresponding props and details. Fun fact: Lee Kuan Yew was known to have a "mischievous, playful streak" and was once caned for being late to school three times. LKY: THE EXPERIENCE: BTS Series 100 Stories (Part 2) To further illustrate Lee Kuan Yew's impact on people from all walks of life we had a free showcase featuring 100 stories collected from everyday people on how Mr Lee’s legacy affected them and influenced history, just before entering the ticketed area. Some of the video interviews were even of people who knew Lee Kuan Yew personally including his tailor, security officers and chef. Visitors were able to select the interviews they wanted to watch with a push of a button as we wanted to empower visitors to interact and choose the stories they wish to hear. We believe that this approach fostered a more authentic and meaningful engagement - it's as though you're choosing to strike up a conversation with the interviewees themselves. To further emphasise the intimacy in the experience, we made sure that only the people who selected that interview could hear the interviews through the strategic use of directional speakers directly situated above where they would be standing. Throughout the interviews, emotions often ran high with some interviewees crying as they recounted their anecdotes that they had with LKY. Visitors were invited to go through this series of emotions with them as they watched the interviews. #DesignedByLucid #lucidexperiences #behindthescenes

We're starting a new series sharing the insights behind our designs! This week we're taking you through the thought process behind one of our most popular rooms in our latest project LKY: THE EXPERIENCE, "Follow That Rainbow". We wanted to conclude our experience on a high, leaving everyone inspired, so the entire room concept was interpreted based on an iconic quote by Lee Kuan Yew, "To the young and to the not-so-old, I say, look at that horizon, follow that rainbow, go ride it." We designed a brightly-coloured canyon adorned with installations sensitive to touch and movement. Visitors are invited to slide through a rainbow arch, culminating in a flowing curved light box that symbolises the journey's inspiring crescendo of our journey. #DesignedByLucid #lucidexperiences #behindthescenes

If there's something we've learnt from all our different projects, it's that ball pits never fails to be a hit with the crowd and the same went for the Pearl Pit at The Bubble Tea Factory. Meant to resemble the pearls in your Bubble Tea, we loved seeing the Pearl Pit take adults back to their childhood days and children make new memories.
