About us

Mentoring SG is a national movement that aims to build a culture of mentoring in Singapore and make mentoring more accessible for youths. An initiative under Forward SG, Mentoring SG seeks to support youth development and school-to work transitions through mentoring for youth to thrive, grow and realise their aspirations. Mentors could help youths broaden their perspectives in their definition of success; and provide guidance, support and practical advice to the youths as they navigate key transitions. Mentoring can play a pivotal role in positive identity formation and enable youths to make informed choices in education, career and life transitions. It can be a deeply meaningful and nurturing relationship in supporting youths achieve their fullest potential.

We are thrilled to share the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our recent Scholar Mentor Training for Singapore Polytechnic. A remarkable 100% of mentors found the session both satisfactory and valuable, with many highlighting how prepared they now feel to guide their students through scholarship processes. The session, facilitated by Brian Liu, PBM, was praised for its effectiveness and the clarity it brought to the scholar-mentor roles. These scholar-mentors play a crucial role in supporting students with scholarship applications and nominations for prestigious opportunities. While these mentors, who are also experienced lecturers, already possess foundational knowledge, the session helped them to share diverse perspectives and deepen their conversational skills for meaningful connections with aspiring scholars. This collaborative training has left all mentors ready and eager to support their students in the next phase of their academic journeys.

We recently conducted the Mentor Training session for the Public Service -ITE Internship Programme! Facilitated by Brian Liu, PBM, it was a wholesome 2-hour session with mentors from diverse backgrounds—some stepping into their mentoring roles for the first time, others returning for a refresher, and seasoned mentors honing their skills. 💡The session aims to deepen their understanding of their crucial role in shaping the internship experience. Mentors were also given tools to enhance their communication strategies through engaging, hands-on role-playing exercises, equipping them with practical tools to support their mentees effectively. The interactive session emphasised how clear, empathetic, and constructive communication forms the foundation of a meaningful mentor-mentee relationship. 🚀We are excited for the mentors to take what they’ve learned into the ITE Internship Programme and create lasting impact!
