National Dental Centre Singapore reposted this
Had a fruitful trip to Taiwan and China recently, where we made new allies and strengthened existing relationships in the global oral healthcare space. On the first leg of my trip to Linkou and Kaohiung, around 50 of my colleagues from SingHealth and a few of my teammates from the National Dental Centre Singapore and Oral Health Academic Clinical Programme visited the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH). We met with oral health and craniofacial surgery counterparts and discussed collaborations in clinical training, continuing professional education, as well as research & innovation. Many thanks to our counterparts at CGMH for their warm hospitality! I then met up with my colleague Dr BIEN LAI in Shandong at the International Forum on Oral Prevention and Treatment for Asian Children, where I spoke on Singapore’s initiatives to promote oral healthcare for children and Bien shared some key findings from our research on dental caries in preschool children. I made the point that the achievement of optimal oral health is multifactorial and much of it involves a collaborative effort between individuals, parents, caregivers, teachers and dentists. We also visited the Huge Dental materials production plant and the Rizhao Stomatological Hospital, where we discussed the possibility of future collaboration in child oral health preventive programme. Looking forward to working with our counterparts to explore innovative practices and enhance the care we provide to our young patients as well as their families together! With Cl A/Prof Jeen-Nee Lui, CI A/Prof Teoh Kim Hean, Dr Elaine Tan & A/Prof Chng Chai Kiat.

NDCS’ continued community outreach efforts to educate residents on oral healthcare saw us set up an oral health educational booth at the recently held Sembawang GRC Health Fiesta 2024, with the main theme of “Invest in your Health, Invest in Yourself!”. A host of activities were organised for the residents such as: • Health screening • Health educational booths • Healthy snack making • Health talks • Sport tryouts NDCS staff who participated in the event included, CI A/Prof Lui Jeen Nee – DCEO (Clinical and Regional Health), Dr Wong Jin Lin – Associate Consultant, Department of Restorative Dentistry – Prosthodontics, Dr Ong Yu Jie – Registrar, Department of Restorative Dentistry – Paediatrics, Ms Deanna Lim – Oral Health Therapist and Ms Carol Wee – Senior Manager, ACP Office – Clinical and Regional Health.
