Working to enhance maritime safety, environmental sustainability and seafarer welfare

About us

At RightShip we provide expertise in global safety, sustainability and social responsibility best practice to the maritime industry. Our unrivalled combination of years of seafaring expertise, vast access to data, analytics and an intuitive digital platform means we offer pertinent, balanced insights to our customer across the maritime ecosystem, supporting them on a journey to zero harm. By this we mean zero harm to ships, to the cargo those ships carry, to the seafarers diligently carrying out their duties on board, and of course, zero harm to the environment the vessels are trading in. Actively incorporating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) metrics spanning marine emissions and pollution, crew welfare and ship safety into the solutions we offer, are all essential elements of a zero harm vision. We’re dedicated to supporting our customers to meet government and industry emission reduction targets, decarbonisation and air quality initiatives through our GHG rating, Carbon Accounting tool and Maritime Emissions Portal. Our Safety Score, vettings and inspections services highlight the importance of good safety practices on board and support the industry in striving for excellence. Finally, our Crew Welfare Self-Assessment demonstrates the ambition that weaves through everything we do - that each seafarer should return home safely from their voyage, thanks to well-managed working environments supporting the health and wellbeing of every crew member. At RightShip, we’ve seen an increasing demand for transparency and verifiable data. Our insights, and the truth they provide are collated and measured by our experts. Vitally, this means that those results can also be managed, allowing the maritime industry certainty that it’s making progress towards a safe, sustainable and socially conscious future.

  • We’re excited to announce that RightShip, in collaboration with the University of Tasmania/Australian Maritime College and the Pilbara Ports, is embarking on an innovative project to develop a solution and pave the way toward a zero-harm future. The project intends to develop a digital analysis tool that will integrate safety and environmental considerations related to the use of alternative fuels along the Singapore–Western Australia shipping route, supporting the uptake of Scalable Zero Emission Fuels (SZEFs) in the corridor. The digital analysis tool will bridge existing data gaps in maritime emission and alternative fuel adoption, incorporating technical and human factors in SZEF handling and usage. It will deliver insights on cost, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and the adoption of low- or zero-emission fuels to enable shipowners and charterers to make informed decisions on SZEF usage in their operations. Additionally, the partnership will also see the development of a guide to support users of the digital analysis tool, providing best practice guidelines on safe adoption and handling specific SZEFs. Our aim for this project and partnership is to empower stakeholders with data-driven insights and advanced technology to support informed decision-making and accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices across the maritime supply chain. This project is supported by the Australian Government through the Australia-Singapore Low-Emissions Technologies (ASLET) Initiative for Maritime and Port Operations.  Together, we are driving the transition to a safer, low-carbon shipping industry. We’re proud to partner with Pilbara Ports and University of Tasmania/Australian Maritime College, and grateful for the support of our funders as we work together to drive innovation and sustainability in the maritime sector. Sailing into a low-emissions future. 🚢 Eight groundbreaking research projects to help reduce emissions in the maritime sector have been selected for funding as part of the Australia-Singapore Initiative on Low Emissions Technologies (ASLET). Delivered by both Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) of Singapore (MPA) and CSIRO, ASLET supports the Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC) between Singapore and Australia, helping drive innovation in decarbonisation and digitalisation. Some of the projects include: 🚢 A digital tool to assess the safety and environmental impact of zero-emission fuels 🚢 AI-driven safety systems for hydrogen and ammonia fuel leaks 🚢 A fully electric ferry prototype for up to 100 passengers. With co-funding committed, these projects are set to be completed within two years, helping to shape the future of clean, sustainable maritime transport. Five days 5️⃣ According to RightShip's data, this is the average time a vessel is held after a PSC inspection resulting in detention. Five days of downtime. Lost earnings. Port fees. Repairs. Crew frustration. The cost? Easily in the five to six-figure range. As PSC trends shift, vessel owners, managers, and their teams are under growing pressure—working with limited resources, tight timelines, and rising PSC inspection scrutiny across global ports. But with so many moving parts, how do you know what to zoom in on while upholding a higher safety standard? 🔍 PSC RiskIQ helps you focus where it counts. PSC RiskIQ, an add-on to our RightFLEET suite of tools for Ship Owners and Managers, connects the dots between port-specific trends and your vessel’s onboard risks, giving your team the power to predict and prevent detainable issues before arrival. With features like real-time risk prediction, peer benchmarking, a deficiency trends dashboard, and detention risk forecasts, your team can zero in on what matters most. Our latest enhancements allow admin users to customise checklist criteria so you can streamline vessel preparation and ensure consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across your fleet. You can also upload custom checklists or generate automated ones with the new and improved PSC RiskIQ. These features seamlessly integrate into your workflows and are supercharged by RISQ and AI. • The rising frequency and complexity of Port State Control (PSC) Inspections can create significant operational and financial pressures for vessel owners and managers. In 2024 alone, over 74,000 PSC inspections were conducted globally, with deficiencies rising to 123,000 and over 9,700 days lost to detention in 2024 across all vessel types. RightShip’s data shows a year-on-year increase in these data points, putting increased pressure on vessel operators and highlighting the heightened scrutiny ships face in ports worldwide. Ever-changing regulations, port-specific requirements, and unpredictable inspections are causing costly delays, fines, and operational disruptions. To stay ahead in this dynamic environment, proactive risk management and compliance are essential for minimising disruptions and maximising operational efficiency. 💻Join our RightShip Deep Dive Webinar—"Navigating PSC Inspections: Proactive Planning with Data-Driven Insight"—as we uncover key trends and insights in PSC Inspections. Hear from industry experts sharing their challenges and strategies, while we explore how the combination of AI-powered insights and advanced analytics and technology provides actionable insights to empower proactive port call preparations.
