Homegrown Humanitarian Organisation. Serving Humanity & Saving Lives since 1949.

About us

The Singapore Red Cross is a homegrown humanitarian organisation dedicated to relieving human suffering, protecting lives and dignity and responding to emergencies. We serve the vulnerable through our blood donor programme, Home and Day Activity Centre for the Disabled, community befriending, medical chaperone and transport service, Meals with Love, and Community First Aid, and we build capacity and resilience through our training academy, and volunteer and youth development. Beyond our shores, we mobilise and translate contributions from the donor community to relief and recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, with the aim of helping communities affected by disasters. Here are some ways to give and get involved with the Red Cross: Become an Employee: You can make a difference every day. No matter what your interests are, you'll find something that you enjoy at the Red Cross. Work with us to mobilise the Power of Humanity. Volunteer: You can make a difference, by volunteering your skills or time. For instance, you can comfort an isolated elder or teach first aid to children. Whether you are interested in community services or international services, you'll find something of interest. Donate: You have the power to make a difference in someone's life. All you have to do is make a contribution. Every donation at redcross.sg helps provide services to the vulnerable. Give Blood: You can be a lifeline for patients who need blood transfusions. Even if you can’t give, you can spread the word or help organise a blood drive. Visit giveblood.sg to find out more!

  • What happens if war comes to you? Singapore Red Cross Youth Chapters from NTU, SMU, and NUS organised screenings of interactive film 'If War Comes to You', immersing viewers in the rules of war. Students stepped into the shoes of civilians, humanitarians, and military personnel to explore and reflect on the multifaceted nature and effects of warfare. A key focus highlighted by students were the importance of awareness and understanding of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), where they deliberated contenxtualising IHL to their everyday lives as students. One student, Myat Aung, highlighted a powerful takeaway: "Everyone has a role to play in respecting, upholding, and advocating for humanitarian laws in times of crisis." It emphasised the relevance of IHL principles in fostering a more compassionate society and inspired students to reflect on their contribution to humanitarian efforts. #sgredcross #InternationalHumanitarianLaw

  • The Singapore Red Cross was part of the National University of Singapore's Industry Seminar Panel on Building Inclusive Communities last week, including a panel discussion 'Building Bridges: How Community Organisations are Fostering Inclusion' alongside the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). Representing SRC, Karine Tan, Associate Director of the Community Engagement Department, shared her decade-long humanitarian journey — beginning in fundraising, Karine has since worn many hats in various departments. She opened up about: ⭐️ The highs and lows of her work, emphasising the importance of resilience, passion, and setting clear goals. ⭐️ Ways to stay motivated and never lose sight of why we do what we do. The students kept the energy alive with substantial questions during the Q&A, including asking about transitioning to the social service sector without a formal background in social work, staying empathetic in challenging situations, and the first steps toward making an impact. It's inspiring to witness young minds thinking deeply about inclusion and purpose! We also conducted a small taster activity on programme strategy choices, where students analysed how to allocate assistance for beneficiaries while balancing limited resources. It was a practical exercise highlighting the complexity and thoughtfulness needed in community work. Our session ended with a presentation by Stephannie W., spotlighting: ⭐️ Career opportunities at Singapore Red Cross ⭐️ Our collaboration with Peanuts™, which supports local programmes ⭐️ The rich history of the Red Cross, from our roots to our ongoing impact today. We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Cadence WongCarine NGAIWong Rui Xuan, and the organising team for giving us this incredible opportunity to connect with future changemakers. Together, we’re building bridges and fostering inclusive communities! #sgredcross #PassionPeople

  • We got together with our partner in the National Blood Programme, the Health Sciences Authority, for the HSA-SRC biennial retreat, to strategise for a safe and sustainable blood supply for Singapore — into the future. After an inspiring welcome by HSA CEO Adj A/Prof Raymond Chua, our teams brainstormed and shared ideas and insights across recruitment, retention, and recognition, of blood donors. Our Secretary General/CEO Benjamin William then shared his closing remarks, encouraging the teams to transform these ideas into plans, and into reality. Blood donation is a shared responsibility. We’d love to hear your ideas on how we can involve more of you in our lifesaving mission! Leave your comment below ⬇️

  • When Neo Group started organising mobile blood drives for its employees and partners in 2016, Jasper Chang made the decision to donate blood for the first time. As Assistant Director of Operations at Umisushi, a subsidiary of Neo Group, he was motivated to lead by example. Since then, Neo Group has hosted three-day mobile blood drives at their premises multiple times a year. Jasper believes that it is essential to build a culture of support and encouragement for first-time blood donors, in order to alleviate their concerns and empower them to donate.
