Since commencing operations in 1991 as an independent, not-for-profit organisation, SIAC has established a track record for providing best in class arbitration services to the global business community. SIAC arbitration awards have been enforced in many jurisdictions including Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Thailand, UK, USA and Vietnam, amongst other New York Convention signatories. SIAC has an experienced international panel of over 400 expert arbitrators from over 40 jurisdictions. SIAC’s panel has over 100 experienced arbitrators in the areas of Energy, Engineering, Procurement and Construction from more than 25 jurisdictions. The SIAC Rules provide a state-of-the-art procedural framework for efficient, expert and enforceable resolution of international disputes of all sizes and complexities involving parties from diverse legal systems and cultures. SIAC’s full-time staff manage all the financial aspects of the arbitration, including: • Regular rendering of accounts • Collecting deposits towards the costs of arbitration • Processing the Tribunal's fees and expenses SIAC supervises and monitors the progress of the case. On 29 October 2024, SIAC co-organised a fireside chat with the Arbitration Bar of India on key developments, challenges, and opportunities shaping the arbitration landscape in India. Moderated by SIAC Board Member, Siraj Omar, S.C., the fireside chat with Gourab Banerji SA, President of the Arbitration Bar of India, discussed developments in the arbitration landscape in India, as well as the strategic objectives of the recently launched Arbitration Bar of India and its efforts to support the growth of arbitration practice in the region. SIAC and YSIAC organised the Seoul Workshop 2024 titled ‘The Art of Cross-Examination’ on 29 October 2024, in conjunction with Seoul ADR Festival. The workshop opened with remarks by Gloria Lim, CEO, SIAC, and featured a mock cross-examination, with the Tribunal comprising John Bang, Dr Eun Young Park, and Abby Cohen Smutny, Members, SIAC Court of Arbitration. The workshop concluded with a panel discussion. On 28 October 2024, SIAC co-organised a panel of global ‘ghostbusters’ with JAMS and NYIAC. The event explored the treacherous pitfalls (tricks) that often haunt arbitration proceedings, as well as the innovative (treats) that can help counsel and parties ensure a smooth and effective process. The event was opened with remarks from SIAC Director & Head of Americas Adriana Uson, JAMS Senior Global Practice Manager Sherman Humphrey, and NYIAC Executive Director Rekha Rangachari. The panellists comprising of Laura Zimmerman, Robert B. Davidson, Betsy Hellmann, Alicia Yeo, and Hinda Rabkin, shared their experiences and perspectives to guide participants through the haunted house of navigating procedural traps and process delays. We are grateful to all who joined us for this meaningful exchange. We would also like to express our appreciation to Baker McKenzie for hosting the event.

During São Paulo Arbitration Week, YSIAC held an event on 18 October 2024, featuring distinguished speakers who discussed key trends and collaboration in arbitration between Singapore and Brazil. Adriana Uson, Director & Head, Americas, SIAC, and Professor Paulo Doron, gave opening remarks and contributed to the panel's insightful discussions. Other panellists, including Justice Andrea Galhardo Palma, Karina Goldberg, Member, SIAC Court of Arbitration, and YSIAC Americas Council Members Heloisa do Amaral and Gustavo Kulesza, along with Ana Carolina Beneti, Professor Wanderley Fernandes, Flavia Mange, Denis Serkin, Professor Leonardo Toledo da Silva, and Professor Lie Carmo, addressed topics such as the recognition of foreign awards in Brazil, the advantages of award scrutiny, the supportive role of Brazilian courts in arbitration, challenges in megaproject arbitration, and innovative approaches to managing complex cases.
