Do you drive to work? Transportation accounts for roughly 20% of global carbon emissions, with 75% of this stemming from road transport. Almost half of road transport's emissions are the result of passenger vehicles, including cars and buses. The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts that car ownership rates will increase by 60% by 2070. This would significantly increase the level of carbon emissions from road transportation without urgent innovations in lower-carbon energy sources. One such innovation is the advent of electric vehicles.
