Naveen again. Two dots to begin, the first is played straight to covers while Litton is beaten trying to slog on the second. FOUR! Short and wide from Naveen and Litton upper cuts it over point. Beaten again! No connection on his expansive drive from Litton. Scoops the next over mid off for two runs. A single to deep mid wicket to end the over.

Farooqi to bowl the third ball of the over, Litton on strike. Starts with a single through backward point. Another quick single, Sarkar taps to point and sets off for a single, Litton gets in easily. Another run to deep point. Sarkar chips over mid wicket to end the over with a couple.

AFG vs BAN, T20 World Cup 2024: How can Bangladesh qualify for semifinals after Afghanistan scores 115/5 in first innings?

AFG vs BAN: Bangladesh needs to beat Afghanistan with 47 deliveries to spare to qualify for the last-four round.

Tanzim with the last over. Karim looks to go over mid off, Shanto just about manages to get his fingers on it, prevents the boundary. Six!! Short and wide, Rashid carves it over point for six! Tries to play a helicopter shot, no timing at all, falls in front of the fielder. Rashid throws his bat in frustration at being sent back before the second run. Six!! A no-look six over midwicket to finish off the innings. 

Not the best batting effort from Afghanistan. The covers are coming on as the heavens open up. Can the bowlers save them or will they have to rely on the rain??

Mustafizur with his last over. Cuts Karim in half with a wristy slower ball. Stifled appeals but probably off his body. Rashid looks to paddle over fine leg, Fizz counters by going wide outside off. Just a single from the over. 

Taskin returns. Goes short, Nabi misses the pull. Short again, tries to carve it over the offside this time, misses again. Three dots to start the over. WICKET!! Short again, goes straight up in the air, simple catch for mid off.

Mustafizur returns. Gurbaz looks to hoick one over midwicket, doesn’t manage to connect. Guides a shortish delivery through backward point for a couple. A comedy of errors in the middle. Gurbaz cut one to point and decided halfway that there was no run. Both batters are stranded at the same end for a while before both decide to run the other way. After a pause, Gurbaz is the one that runs and finally a single is taken. 

WICKET!! Appeal for caught behind as Omarzai looks to cut. Bangladesh take a review and there is clear spike on UltraEdge!

Four!! Naib gets off the mark with a brilliant straight drive down the ground. 

Shakib again, leading edge for Omarai, Shakib tries to get his left hand to it, just manages to graze his fingertips. Omarzai cuts through point and picks up a double. Five from the over. 

Rishad with a change of ends. Full and wide, Omarzai looks to go big but it goes straight up in the air. Falls in front of the fielder running in from the deep. A couple taken. Four!! Wide again, Gurbaz manages to get it square over the infield and to the fence for four. Four!! Brings out the sweep shot, gets it fine enough to beat the fielder in the deep. Productive over for Afghanistan. 

Shakib with his third over. Arm ball into the right hander, Omarzai manages to keep it out. Gurbaz pulls a full ball through midwicket for a single. Just the three runs from the over. 

Taskin into the attack. Full on offstump, Gurbaz creams the cover drive but its straight at short cover who manages to stop it with his body in the way. MAIDEN OVER!

Rishad continues after the break. Slightly short, Gurbaz makes room and pulls to midwicket for a single. Ibrahim looks to make room and heave one downtown. Ball spins away and the bat lands behind square. WICKET!! Another attempt at a lofted shot, over the offside, doesn’t get enough of it and the fielder running in completes a good catch.

Azmat Omarzai in at 3. Appeal for stumping after he is beaten on the outside edge. Has some part of his shoe behind the line.

Mustafizur again. Just four singles from it and it’s time for drinks!

Rishad Hossain with his leg spin now. Gurbaz with a couple of runs with a punch between long on and mid wicket. A single on the second through the same area, that’s also the fifty-run partnership. 3 wides bring more extra runs for AFG. Seven runs from the over.

Tanzim back for his third over, a couple through covers for Zadran. He runs the second down to third man, another single. Gurbaz reads the slower delivery, clips through square leg and gets two. 5 wides! Again the bouncer going out of control from Tanzim. A single to third man on the fifth delivery. 

Shakib to Zadran, cuts the second to deep covers for a single. Gurbaz gets an edge towards the point region, gets a single. There is an overthrow but the batters decide against an additional run. Zadran picks the third single to long off. SIX! Gurbaz comes down the track and launches this down the ground. 

Mustafizur Rahman is the next change. FOUR! Gurbaz pulls a short-lengthed ball, gets a leading edge and the ball runs to the fine leg fence. That’s the only scoring shot of the over.

Shakib Al Hasan is the new bowler. PUT DOWN! Towhid Hridoy fails to gather a slap shot by Zadran. Too hard hit to be collected but a chance nonetheless. Just two runs off the over.

Taskin to Zadran, picks a single to third man. Two runs from Gurbaz through mid wicket. Another flick off the pads for a couple for Gurbaz. Five runs from the over.

Tanzim to Zadran, punches past point and gets two runs. Four byes! Tazim tries a bouncer but gets it too high, flies over everyone. FOUR! Punches on the up again, this time through covers. A soft push down the ground to make it 11 runs off the over.

Taskin Ahmed to bowl the next. A hint of seam for Taskin as the ball pitches and leaves the right handed Gurbaz. He whips the next off his mid rif to square leg and collects another single. Taskin beats Zadran now. The last delivery stays low and Litton fails to gather it behind the wickets, allowing a bye.

Tanzim Hasan to start for BAN. Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz to open. 

Gurbaz on strike, taps to mid wicket and takes off for a single. There is a direct hit at the bowler’s end but Gurbaz is safely home with a dive. Zadran misses a drive on an away-swinging delivery. He punches the third through point for a single. Gurbaz steps out on the final delivery and drives through mid off for the third single off the over.
