The 2024 edition of Rosebel Gold Mines N.V. Summer Job Program had 29 students from different Communities of Interest. The program is part of the company’s Sustainable Community Development initiatives, that was initiated in 2011. The students had the opportunity to experience how it is to work in the Mining Industry, as well as having a better understanding on how the company is from the inside. On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname, the RGM team participated in an info-day where we shared insights with the first-year students of the FTeW (Faculty of Technological Science) about Zijin Mining Group, its global presence, and performance. They learnt how they can make an impact in the mining industry while contributing to sustainable practices and community development. Our team gave the students a glimpse of their day-to-day work at RGM and how the knowledge they obtained during their studies is utilized and contributes towards their career growth. Our HR Lead, Queeni Eduards, also shared how the students can apply for internships and trainee programs, including the possibilities to work at Rosebel Gold Mines. The students presented appreciation for the shared information and expressed enthusiasm for the possibility to contribute to the mining industry.

The unveiling of the nameplate for the construction of the “Brokopondo School Complex” marks a significant milestone in the district's educational development. This modern school, with a capacity for approximately 400 students, will not only offer educational opportunities but also strengthen the community by creating jobs and enhancing economic prospects. Donation of School Packages As part of Rosebel Gold Mines' commitment to sustainability and community development, school packages were donated to 8th graders of elementary schools in the Community of Interest. This year, more than 400 packages, filled with essential school supplies, dictionaries and different exercise books, were handed over. Donation of Life Jackets This year, our Community Relations Department met most of the donation requests from the community of Kwakoegron for life jackets. This request aims to offer more safety to students of this community when transported to their schools by boat. On October 4, 2024, the contract signing ceremony was held for the 15th edition of the Rosebel Gold Mines Scholarship Program, at the Banquet Hall of Hotel Torarica. Besides the students and their families, the event was also attended by the Minister of Education, Science and Culture, H.E. Henry Ori, the Permanent Secretary of Mining, Ms. Preciosa Simons, of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the District Commissioner of the District of Brokopondo, Ludwig Mendelzoon and the General Manager of Rosebel Gold Mines N.V.
