I enjoyed this game. I like top down shooters. And it's not nearly as hard to finish as many on the market (eg Miami Hotline). The chapters are short and simple. The gun play is cool, as in you have to c o c k weapons before shooting and load quickly between heated exchanges. The timing of cocking and loading is often critical, which makes the game a little more strategic at times and stealth is also important to consider.

The back story has a gritty, grim vibe, there is no good and evil, just various powerful factions carving up America with blood and gunpowder. The antihero is gallow-humored and jaded, his one liners are dark and funny. I imagine some people might find the story not to their taste.

Try it if you like this sort of thing. Buy full price or on sale.

Achievement Hunters: reasonably easy to 100% in 6 hours or so.

The only way this "game" could be more pretentious, boring and lazy is if Willem Dafoe appeared as the Lighthouse Keeper.

The beautiful scenary could have been better used to make an excellent Skyrim-type game, but instead the creators decided to make a snobby suicide sim.....with devs celebrating their lack of genius in recorded notes you must listen to; so as to unlock an achievement.

As an Achievement Hunter, I feel dirty finishing this game. What have I become?

It's a mindless zen kinda game.

For many people this game would get boring very fast, however for me I find it a quiet focus while I'm thinking about other things. Kinda like rolling prayer beads thru the fingers, or chewing gum, or throwing a tennis ball over and over against a wall. The game is simple and grindy, can be played easy by repeating levels over and over to buy weapons, armour and skills. Or hardcore, by shooting and dodging thru each level with bare minimum gear..... And it can be easily played with the sound off (while you are socialising on discord or whatever.)

Don't expect to much for the price. It's just a basic side scroll shooter with a cute cat. So if you don't like to zen while gaming, this isn't for you. Buy on sale maybe....

I'm not sure if this game should be classified as a survival horror, it is more of a walking simulator, like a ghost train kinda thing, where you roll along and scary things happen. It's fun though, I love the Jurassic Park feel. The graphics are kinda simple, but the sound effects and mood music are on point. It would be a good game to play for children maybe.

I did get legitimately scared for two jump scares.

The game flows well and is super easy to beat. Not sure if I would pay full price for Oakwood, buy on sale maybe.

For Achievement Hunters: I completed 100% this game in 2 hours, using a guide for collecting totems (as they are really, really tiny, good luck finding them without a guide.) The great thing is once you finish the game you can go back and redo chapters where you may have missed totems, so you don't have to do a whole second playthru.

I have only played two hours or so of the game and I'm already loathing it. I have a strong respect for the Resident Evil game title and all the cool things it has done for the survival horror genre, but respect doesn't mean I have to actually like the original game itself.....it just doesn't flow well with me.

I know many gamers hate the janky controls and weird camera angles in-game, but I did get use to them after 15 minutes or so. What got me was the wandering about looking aimlessly for items to open doors; to continue the journey. Walking backwards and forwards between rooms and load screens really got old fast. Finding an arrow and not knowing I could disassemble it to move the story on was frustrating. I don't like having to resort to guides over small stupid issues that completely stall game progress.

I might retry this game another time and re-post a review, but prob not.

Overwhelmingly Positive? Absolutely.

This game is flawless from beginning to end. The story is profound, the puzzles flow and ebb. The world is wholesome and upbeat.

Buy this game at any price. Play this game from start to finish. 11/10.

The first book in a fantastic series of Fighting Fantasy...and perhaps the hardest and most frustrating right to the very end. Despite the various routes you can take to the final confrontation with the Warlock, there really is only one linear way to do this and win the game, which is made all the more difficult by the twists and turns in the second part of the adventure (you will know what I mean when you arrive there).

When you do finally succeed, after scrawling pages and pages of maps in your A4 notebook and dying multiple times victory is truly sweet. (Hardcore mode recommended to play first.)

A delightful experience overall. Highly recommended.

Really love to see more story-based games like this one. Kinda like the Tell Tales series, but also unique in many ways too. Story is relaxing and flows well. Mini games are fun and easy. Can be quite immersive when crossing (or failing to cross) the border. The background lore is hinted enough to be mysterious and compelling, just enough to wanting to know more about why and how the lands of Petria became dystopian.

I love that this story is told thru the eyes of brave, hopeful and very naive youth. (Reminds me of myself when I backpacked around thew world when i was young and innocent.)

Overall I give this a 10/10, which is a score I rarely give ever. Apparently there is an Origins game (Road 0) that fleshes out Zoe's story, so I will def buy it.

For Achievement Hunters, this is an easy one to beat. I collected all cassettes by the 1st Chapter in second playthru, which was the last achievement to pop. So roughly 6-7 hours I guess.

DigixArt please make more titles like this one. Thx.

Early Access Review
Really fun and very original; worthy of the small price tag.

The game is fairly short atm, though new content is coming out soon (2025).

Give it a try!
