Norse Retold

Description
The time of the Norse has come!

"Norse Retold" brings (almost) all changes to the Norse civilization from Retold to Extended Edition! As well as most of the general civilization-shared changes! (If it has the new Retold icon, that means its stats or effects have been adjusted.)

Practice build orders for all civilizations, test the new Norse units and cheer in anticipation for Age of Mythology: Retold!

Norse-specific changes:
  • New units - Hirdman (anti-cavalry in Longhouse) and Godi (ranged hero in Great Hall)
  • New building - Great Hall (military building for heroes and cavalry)
  • Odin, Thor, Loki god bonuses
  • Stats of all units (excluding Myth Unit special attacks and scaling per Age-Up)
  • Stats of all buildings
  • Stats of all technologies (excluding some not possible with EE code, noted in the tooltips accordingly)
  • (No changes to god powers yet)
  • Gatherers & Dwarves can build Houses and Ox Carts
  • Transforming Gatherer to Ulfsark cost 50F 30G > 0F 30G (Loki -10G)
  • Transforming Dwarf to Ulfsark cost 50F 30G > 10F 0G (Loki -10F)
  • Buildings -20% > -10% hitpoints compared to other civs (still unchanged -20% wood cost)
  • No favor generation for attacking buildings

Atlantean-specific changes:
  • Town Centers same stats as Greek, no longer available in the Archaic Age
  • Citizen rework to be akin to 3 > 2 population cost

Civ-shared changes:
  • Ranged units & buildings have a bad track rating until Ballistics upgrade (they miss moving targets), except for Town Center & Archer Ships & Fire Ships
  • 1 extra start Villager, different starting resources
  • Gather Rates of Villagers, Fishing Ships and Caravans (including optimized carry capacity for nearly no dropoff waste)
  • Build Rates (including less repair rate for Walls, a legacy bug that never worked correctly on EE)
  • Stats of units (for example all warships available in the Classical Age)
  • Stats of buildings (for example Town Center +25% build time)
  • Stats of technologies (for example replaced Hunting Dogs with Hunting Equipment, stronger Heavy/Champion Line upgrades, etc.)
  • Population limit increase: Fortify TC upgrade +5 > +10 per TC; Build limit of Houses 10 > 16 and Manors 5 > 8
  • Age-Up requirements: Market or Armory for Heroic Age and Fortress for Mythic Age
  • Removed EE-exclusive Units: Hippocrates, Khopesh+Upgrades, Bogsveigir, Onager
  • Visible myth unit upgrades
  • Added auto-scout option (except for Oracle Scout which is not possible with EE code)
  • Heroes better scaling per Age-Up: +10/10/10% > +10/15/20% hitpoints and +10/10/10% > +10/20/30% damage
  • UI layout of building icons like on Retold

Map changes:
  • All maps offer more start hunt, always in line of sight
  • All maps offer berry bushes and chicken in base
  • New Retold maps - Gold Rush, Giza (aka Tropical Mirage), Mirage, Ironwood

STILL MISSING:
  • Myth Unit special attacks and scaling per Age-Up
  • Stats of Greek/Egyptian/Atlantean-exclusive units & buildings
  • Reusable god powers
  • Wonder Age
  • Village Center

Instructions

Mod Version 2.0 (the final version for now)

Installation: Click the green "subscribe" button. Start AoM:EE and restart on the pop-up's request. Open the Mod manager (click the Steam icon in the main menu), select the "Norse Retold" mod and click "Priority Up" button until that mod is on the uppermost slot. Restart once more, now you are ready to play.

Uninstall: Go to the Mod manager in the main menu and click "Unsubscribe" button. Alternatively, find this mod page in the Steam workshop and click the green "unsubscribe" button.

Desync Sensitive: You can only play "Norse Retold" in multiplayer if everyone has subscribed to this mod. If they try to join your lobby without the mod, they are automatically asked to subscribe and sent to this mod page.

Mod Compatibility: This mod changes the data files of units and buildings, it is not compatible with other mods that do the same. You can combine it with visual mods, including the User Interface like Retold UI.

Known Bugs: The Norse AI (computer player) does not work at the moment because of all the changes.

I expected the Norse AI to not work anymore as I guess they don’t build/use the ox art anymore. I don’t know why the Greeks try to build the Great Hall, that’s unexpected. I didn’t touch the AI at all so maybe this mod is best used multiplayer with/against a friend. Sry for the inconvenience :/

Bogsveigir is removed just like in Retold (it’s also stated in the Hillfort patch notes in the description)

I keep seeing Greek AI trying and failing to build the Great Hall building. Also, is the Bogsveigir just removed in this mod?

New Patch for the Mod is out adding new Changes from Retold Beta to the mod!

Names, Stats & Costs for Norse Buildings + Units adjusted.
Also Thor got the new Bonus from the Beta (spawning Dwarfs with Armory upgrades)

Having played the Beta, the units' official names are Hirdman (Spear infantry, good only aginst cav) and Godi (Spear throwing hero a la Reiginleif (minus healing), also generates favor like the hersir), and teh building is called the Great Hall.
Don't knwo if it's helpful, but just in case, I felt like I should share :)

I noticed there were some differences for the old units such as the Automaton being larger for the Atlanteans for example, plus the Promethean models looking thinner as well so I thought you were going to do a "Redux" sort of version incorporating most or at least some of the changes from Retold to EE, that's all.

Hey thanks for your interest!

For now other Civs arent really planned, besides a new look for the wadjet I didnt notice much "new stuff"/changes to the existing civs in the Retold trailer.

I do plan on bringing an update to this Norse Retold mod tho.
We know about a new Norse God Freyr who will be added to the game - so thats what I will also try to do :)
