On 26 March 2025, the British Standards Institution (BSI) and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) held the first official dialogue on standards coopertion, following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Standards Cooperation on 26 February 2025.   The dialogue was co-chared by Mr Natthaphongs Julagatepotichai, Director of International Affairs Division at TISI, and welcomed Ms Jennifer Bisset, Principal Counsultant for International Project at BSI. UK representiatives from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) at the British Embassy Bangkok also participated in person.   Discussions focused on standards development, training programmes, and the exchange of best practices to enhance regulatory alignment and strengthen the trade and standards environment between the UK and Thailand.   The UK place great importance on standards cooperation, as reflected in the Enhanced Trade Partnership (ETP), where this collaboration is recognised as a key milestone. On 12-14 March 2025, UK Agri-Tech companies showcased their cutting-edge solutions at VIV Asia 2025, one of the world’s leading trade shows for feed production, animal farming, breeding, processing, and animal health. The UK Pavilion featured 10 pioneering companies — CHERRY VALLEY FARMS (UK) LIMITED, Coventry Chemicals Ltd. Cloud Agri Limited, Form Nutrition Ltd, Rappa, BIO-ICON Animal Health , Natural Stockcare , Origin Genetics Ltd, AB Agri, and Anpario plc, highlighting British expertise in genetics, biosecurity, smart farming, and animal nutrition. Held in partnership with UKTAG, the British Embassy Bangkok also hosted a seminar on African Swine Fever (ASF) recovery, bringing together industry leaders to discuss successful strategies for disease management and resilience. Last week, our Technology and Investment team visited RV Connex During the visit, we explored their drone manufacturing facilities and the operations centre for their cybersecurity business, Cynclair In 2023, our team supported RV Connex to sign a partnership with UK communications company Albeego at UK Southeast Asia Tech Week. The partnership has gone from strength to strength since then and Albeego equipment now plays an integral part in RV Connex drones. Thank you to the team at RV Connex for hosting our visit and continuing to champion UK-Thai partnerships! As we celebrate our 170th anniversary of UK-Thai diplomatic relations, cooperation on technology and security is more important than ever. The visit highlighted how we can leverage our relative strengths to achieve our mutual economic growth and security.
