Rape of minor confirmed in forensic report, say Kannauj cops

NEW DELHI: The Kannauj police on Monday confirmed that the minor girl, who had accused former Samajwadi Party block head Nawab Singh Yadav of trying to rape her, was raped at his inter-college premises in the district.
Senior police officials cited a report of the forensic investigation carried out following court orders.
In a statement, superintendent of police Amit Kumar Anand said that the authorities had gathered forensic evidence from the crime scene and submitted it to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis.
Former Samajwadi leader Nawab Singh Yadav was arrested for allegedly trying to rape the 15-year-old girl.
The girl, along with her aunt, had gone to meet the accused at his inter-college premises, who had called them on the pretext of securing a job for the minor.
In her complaint, the girl said Yadav tried to force himself on her when her aunt had gone to the bathroom. But once she came back and saw Yadav in his inner-wears, they immediately called 112, according to the police.
The FSL has now released its report, which confirms that the alleged rape did occur.
Nawab Singh Yadav is said to have been a close aide of Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Dimple Yadav when she was the Member of Parliament from Kannauj.
Following a court order, the Kannuj Police had collected the DNA sample from Nawab Singh Yadav. The sample was taken by a team of doctors at the district jail, according to a police official.
Following his consent, a police team, accompanied by doctors, visited the district jail in Anaugi to collect the sample. The sample was sealed and sent to the forensic lab for analysis.
