Andheri tragedy: Woman killed, biker injured in high-speed divider collision

MUMBAI: A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday at 4.30 pm when a biker, Ayush Khandari (23), and his pillion rider, Parita Goswami (26), crashed into a divider below the Western Express Highway Metro station in Andheri (East), Mumbai. The impact of the collision killed Goswami, while Khandari suffered severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment. The Andheri police have charged Khandari with negligence, holding him responsible for the fatal incident.
Upon receiving a wireless alert, the police team arrived at the scene to find Goswami lying on the divider with critical head injuries.Khandari, who was discovered near the divider, was swiftly taken to the Trauma Care Centre in Jogeshwari by bystanders. "People who gathered at the spot rushed Khandari to the Trauma Care Centre in Jogeshwari where he is undergoing treatment. He was taken to the hospital in an unconscious state. We managed to get the biker and pillion rider details with the identity cards that was found with them," stated a police officer from the Andheri police station.
Sub-inspector Shamcharan Gawade (55) filed a complaint, stating, "On receiving wireless alert we rushed to the spot to find a woman lying on the divider with severe head injuries while the biker near the divider. Locals informed that the biker was at high speed and he lost control before crashing into the divider." The police reviewed CCTV footage, confirming that the accident took place on Tuesday evening when Khandari was riding at high speed, lost control, and collided with the divider, resulting in Goswami's death.
Khandari faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 106 (1) (death of any person by doing any rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide) and the Motor Vehicle Act section 184 (driving dangerously). He will be arrested upon his discharge from the hospital.
