Emraan Hashmi reveals he asked for a painkiller due to headache at an awards show: 'People want to decorate their shelf in their living room'
Emraan Hashmi, who has worked in the film industry for around twenty years, recalled having a headache at an awards show and asking for a painkiller.
During a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Emraan said he gets a “physical reaction” at these events. He also stated that he has never chased awards and was happy with the affection of the audience instead.

Emraan stated he wasn't focused on winning awards, but he did appreciate them as a part of the film industry.
He shared, “I remember the last time I went for an award ceremony I actually, I had a headache and I asked for a Tylenol. I needed it. I actually took a Tylenol,” he said, adding, “I never wanted it so it’s not something that even figured in my consciousness. For people who love it, they want to decorate their shelf in their living room, if that’s your jam then yeah, go for it. It’s not my thing. I have never wanted it.”
Emraan also discussed award shows and criticized the trading mechanism that supports them. While he doesn't mean to belittle awards, he believes that some people win them purely for display. Emraan stated awards ought to be given out based solely on talent and not on favour-exchanging.
He said, “I wouldn’t want to diss awards, but if someone wants to decorate their living room by dancing, all power to them. But I can’t pat myself on the back and say that I’ve delivered a good performance, because it’s a lie. You should win if you’ve done well. What’s the point of winning if it’s going to be a barter deal?”
On the work front, Emraan Hashmi was last seen in the OTT show ‘Showtime’.
