Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara 2' nears completion, release in summer 2025

Rishab Shetty thrilled fans with the release of his fantasy film 'Kantara', which became a global sensation despite its modest budget. Following its success, the makers quickly announced 'Kantara 2', a highly anticipated prequel. 'Kantara 2' is now set for a grand production with a significantly larger budget.
Over the past year, the team has been diligently working on the film, shooting extensively at real locations and in studio setups.According to a report by Pinkvilla, the shoot for 'Kantara 2' is nearing completion. Sources close to the project revealed that Rishab Shetty and his team have finished the outdoor portions, leaving only 15 to 20 days of indoor shooting. The film's post-production work has already begun.
"Kantara 2 is a lot bigger than Kantara, with the introduction of prequel and mythological elements in the story", the source added.
'Kantara 2' is much more expansive than the first film, having prequel and mythological elements in the storyline. The makers are likely to invest significant time and resources to ensure top-notch visual effects.

The source added, "While most of the shoot has been wrapped up, the team is not compromising at all on the post-production and visual effects. The idea is to deliver a product that’s 10 notches above Kantara 1. The first promo to announce the film was just a glimpse to showcase the magnitude of part 2".
The filmmakers are targeting a Summer 2025 release for 'Kantara 2' with the promotions of the film to begin in October 2024.
