Apple is reportedly working on a Magic Mouse prototype that may support touch, voice, and gesture controls. The rumour was first leaked by a Korean tipster named "yeux1222". Now, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has explained that this is likely a misinterpretation of his previous reporting. However, Gurman acknowledged that voice control for AI in an upcoming model of Magic Mouse would be logical, yet he has not heard of any rumours about such a feature being in development, he added.

What Gurman said about the rumoured Apple Magic Mouse
In a post shared on social media platform X (earlier Twitter), Gurman wrote: “Voice control in the new Magic Mouse I wrote about this month makes sense in light of AI — and the fact that Apple is on a decade-plus cycle.

From what I’ve heard, big focus is ergonomics and gestures (relocated USB-C too). I’d expect a new keyboard too.”
“I recently bought the Mac Logitech mouse and keyboard and the ergonomics, input options and customizability is in a totally different league. As the operating system and main hardware maker, Apple should be putting more of a focus here — and all indications are they know this and they will,” he added in the comment section of the original post.
Adding another comment to the post, Gurman wrote:
“As @ChanceHMiller points out, the rumor making the rounds today is just an incorrect back-and-forth translation of this line from my initial report: "In a computing world now infused with touch screens, voice commands and hand gestures..."Apple’s next Magic Mouse: What to expect
Apple is reportedly planning a major redesign of the Magic Mouse, focusing on a more ergonomic design and introducing unspecified gestures., Gurman highlighted. Voice control may also be included, potentially allowing users to summon Siri or perform actions via voice commands. While Macs already support voice-based features, this addition could future-proof the device, aligning with Apple's long update cycles.
The Magic Mouse has seen minimal updates since 2019, apart from new colours and a USB-C charging port replacing the Lightning port. A rumoured "full overhaul" may include relocating the charging port to a more accessible position. Both Gurman and yeux1222 also suggested that the updated Magic Mouse may launch in 2026, possibly alongside an OLED MacBook Pro.
