The Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises (BUSINESSMED) is a regional professional organisation created thanks to the will, determination and militancy of the federations' presidents of the twelve members and which aims at accelerating the integration and the social and economic development in the region. BUSINESSMED headquarters, based in Tunis since its creation in January 2004, ensures a permanent contact with the federations of the twelve Mediterranean Partner Countries that it represents. BUSINESSMED main objective is economic integration within Europe and World economy. BUSINESSMED MISSIONS AND OBJECTIVES « Employers in the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, call for the implementation of a strong and coherent economic strategy with the objective of liberalizing North-South and South-South exchanges, prosperity of the peoples and sustainability of the Mediterranean patrimony» through: Mediterranean integration Increasing exchange between the European Union and the Mediterranean countries Enhancing technological transfer towards South-Mediterranean countries Increasing foreign direct investment flows Implementing a regulatory framework for investors Endeavoring to make the Union for the Mediterranean not only political but also economic and social Creating a free trade area around the Mediterranean basin by 2020 Undertaking partnership actions between the various business communities in the region Lobbying and business advocating for a wider participation of the private sector in the actions to be undertaken by governments in order to achieve a prosperous free trade area.

[𝗖𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗼 🇪🇬, 𝟮 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰] We are delighted to have participated in the second High-Level Meeting on Science Diplomacy, jointly organized by the Union for the Mediterranean and the League of Arab States - General Secretariat on October 2nd in #Cairo, #Egypt 🇪🇬. This meeting brought together diplomats, research institutions, ministry officials, and science diplomacy experts for panel discussions and thematic sessions aimed at addressing pressing transnational challenges such as #climatechange, food and water security, #energy resources, science, and #innovation. These issues offer significant opportunities to enhance regional cooperation and collaboration. Mr. Tarek Tawfik, President of #BUSINESSMED, contributed to the panel on "Science for a Sustainable #BlueEconomy," highlighting our organization's involvement in various projects and initiatives, as well as its role in fostering #dialogue and exchange to strengthen economies across the #Mediterranean region. The event concluded with a presentation of feedback from the parallel sessions and the outcomes of the conference. In this occasion, we extend our sincere gratitude to the organizers, speakers and participants for their contributions to the success of this event. [𝗕𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘀 🇧🇪, 𝟭𝟬 -𝟭𝟭 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰] We were pleased to take part in the 2nd plenary meeting of the 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 (𝗚𝗚 𝗖𝗦𝗢/𝗟𝗔 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺), held on October 10–11 in #Brussels, #Belgium 🇧🇪. The platform’s mission is to support the #EuropeanCommission in implementing the 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘆 strategy, ensuring that its objectives are met in line with key principles such as transparency, high environmental standards, #GenderEquality, benefits for local communities, and the creation of quality #jobs. The meeting gathered representatives from global and regional organizations and networks across #Europe, #Africa, #Asia and the Pacific, #LatinAmerica, and the Caribbean. Key European institutions were also present, including the European Commission, the European External Action Service, the European Economic and Social Committee, the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The event reaffirmed the 🇪🇺 EU’s strong and ongoing support for #CivilSociety in its external actions. [𝗖𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗼 🇪🇬, 𝟯 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰] We are excited to have participated in the “𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼-𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰”, organized by the European Commission in collaboration with the Union for the Mediterranean, held on October 3rd in #Cairo, #Egypt 🇪🇬. This annual event shed light on the outcomes of 🇪🇺 EU-funded research and innovation projects while fostering collaboration among regional stakeholders in three key sectors: #Health, #RenewableEnergies, and #ClimateChange. #BUSINESSMED took part in the panel discussion on the role of #Innovation in the Mediterranean #BusinessEcosystem. Our representative, Ms. Takwa Mrabet, introduced the #BusinessCountryDesk (Bcdesk.eu), an innovative platform that offers information services and facilitates B2B #networking for the benefit of various stakeholders in the region. This initiative supports #trade, #investment, and promotes North-South and South-South business #partnerships across the Southern Mediterranean and regional markets. In the same context, Ms. Mrabet highlighted our organization's involvement by presenting the INVESTMED Project, emphasizing its crucial role in fostering new sustainable initiatives in #entrepreneurship and #business. The project aimed to create new economic opportunities and jobs, particularly for #youth and #women.
