𝘼𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙-𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧… 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨? 🥀   2024 is the deadliest year on record—nearly 9,000 lives lost. Every year for the past five years, we’ve said the same: an increase in migrant deaths.   🥀 Our latest figures show an increase in deaths across Asia, Africa, and Europe, while the Americas and the Mediterranean remain high, though data is still being finalized.   🥀 A concerning trend: over 10% of the deaths in 2024 involved violence, with many fleeing conflicts in South and Southeast Asia losing their lives to violence. The lack of identification for nearly 4,500 missing migrants in 2024 alone deepens the tragedy – leaving families in anguish, unsure of the fate of their loved ones.   🥀 IOM’s upcoming annual report will examine the most affected migration routes and populations. Behind the statistics, we must remember that each number represents a human life – a preventable loss.   IOM believes “migration can work for all.” But to make this a reality, we need a migration system that provides safe, legal routes to ensure no more lives are lost. ✨ CinemArena Supports Young Entrepreneurs in Tunisia ✨ As part of the CinemArena campaign, OIM Tunisie - IOM Tunisia - المنظمة الدولية للهجرة بتونس and OIM Mediterraneo conducted a field mission to follow up on the progress of young entrepreneurs who received in-kind grants to support their businesses. 📌 Our team visited 8 out of 20 projects, assessing their development, identifying challenges, and ensuring that beneficiaries have the support they need to thrive. Projects covered various areas such as media production, agriculture, leisure and entertainment, engineering and mecanic industry, IT and digital marketing, food industry, and alternative tourism. 🔊 'The field of digital marketing remains unexplored in Tunisia. I see opportunities every day, and I'm determined to make my project a success. “The environment was dynamic, and we were very well supported. It wasn’t just an internship—it was a life-changing experience.” 💬 🌏 👀 In 2018, Kamel Romdhani came to Belgium from Tunisia to intern at a Belgian startup through a dedicated internship mobility scheme set up between the two countries by IOM Belgium & Luxembourg and OIM Tunisie - IOM Tunisia - المنظمة الدولية للهجرة بتونس. Working in a small team alongside the CEO and three other Tunisian interns proved to be an invaluable opportunity. Through this internship, Kamel developed a variety of soft and hard skills that gave him the boost he needed to launch his career. He integrated into a new culture and gained hands-on experience. 💻 Today, Kamel works as a Software Engineer at Speos, a company specializing in e-invoicing. He believes Tunisian interns bring motivation and expertise: “They are highly skilled and very eager to learn, as this opportunity can be life-changing for them! 🌍 Dans le cadre du projet Mobi-TRE Phase II Hajti Bik, l’OIM Tunisie poursuit son appui aux partenaires institutionnels pour une meilleure mobilisation des Tunisiens Résidant à l'Étranger (TRE) en faveur de l’investissement. 📍 Des sessions de formation ont été organisées les 5 et 6 février au Kef et les 10 et 11 février à Gafsa au profit des délégués régionaux de l’Office des Tunisiens à l’Etranger (OTE). 🎯 Ces sessions ont permis de mieux outiller les participants pour orienter et accompagner les TRE, en s’appuyant sur le Guide de l’investissement pour les TRE, développé lors de la Phase I de Mobi-TRE. 📘 Ce Guide constitue un outil clé pour garantir une orientation efficace et fiable aux investisseurs TRE.
