Aiming to address unregulated emissions in the port services sector and the lack of tech solutions for mitigating them.

Hakkımızda

The GREENPORT project aims to address the unregulated emissions in the port services sector and the lack of immediate technological solutions for mitigating these emissions in the short to medium term. The project recognises the pressing priority of sustainability and the need to reduce emissions in the maritime sector. It seeks to bring together representatives from different areas of work in port services such as academia, research and industry to collaborate on finding solutions to reduce emissions through behavioural change. The project emphasises the importance of education, retraining and the use of existing digital technologies to bring about a significant decrease in emissions. By creating a consortium that includes European-level trade groupings, companies, higher education institutions (HEIs), vocational education and training (VET) providers, and research entities, the project aims to bridge the existing divide within the different workers/areas of work in port services and the silos that exist between academia/research and industry. This collaborative approach is intended to strengthen Europe’s capacity to innovate and develop new ideas to address the climate crises. Furthermore, the project seeks to contribute to the provision of the new skills and address skill mismatches through the creation of new curricula for both HE and VET, which can only be achieved through industry, HE, VET, and research collaboration. Overall, the project aims to promote a shared understanding that individual actions in port services matter and can contribute to mitigating the climate crises. This project is co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme (project 101139879).
