【Dong Fang Offshore – Announcement of long-term SOV contract with Vestas】 Dong Fang Offshore Co., Ltd. (DFO) is pleased to announce the award by Vestas of a newbuild SOV supporting the operations & maintenance phase for the Changfang Xidao and Zhong Neng projects, with a firm contract duration of 12 years. The SOV is the first of two units that have already been ordered, and will be delivered in the last quarter of 2026 from the shipyard. The SOV will fly the flag of Taiwan. 【Industrial Event】Occupational Safety of Offshore Wind Power Industry, Special Occupations Demand as well as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Safety Inspection and Application Seminar With the growth of the global demand for renewable energy, the offshore wind power industry is rapidly developing. Its unique working environment and operational technical challenges, however, also require multi-faceted safety risk management and the needs of cultivation of the professionals. This seminar, invites experts, scholars and technical specialists, will deeply explore the safety issues during the development of the offshore wind power as well as the professional demands. The topics cover risk management and incident precautions of #wind_farm_design, #construction, #operation_and_maintenance phases. In addition, the seminar will analyze the training, certification and capability improvement the required for various technical persons. Besides focusing on the global standards ( such as #GWO, #OPITO etc. ), for wind power safety training, how to design efficient professional and technical personnel training courses based on these standards will also be discussed in the seminar. Moreover, the key points the first domestic #Special_Aerial_Work_ Vehicle operator training and the subsequent suggestions for improvement of safety management will also be shared, providing suggestion of regulatory directions to industry, government and academy. Taiwan's first commercial wave energy demonstration site, set to complete next year in eastern coaster of Taiwan, marks a significant milestone in the nation's ocean energy development. Taiwan Ocean Energy Development Association Chairman Jacky Chuang hopes the government will continue to improve supporting measures, making ocean energy a key player in Taiwan's 2050 carbon neutrality goal. 【Taiwan's First Deep Geothermal Exploratory Well Breaks Ground】 The drilling of Taiwan’s first deep geothermal exploratory well, the "Yilan Yuanshan Deep Geothermal Exploration Well (Yuanshan No. 1)," officially began today (21st), marking a significant milestone in the development of geothermal energy. This exploratory well combines the scientific expertise of Academia Sinica with the practical experience in exploration and drilling from CPC Corporation, aiming for a drilling depth of 4,000 meters. 【MOEA Holds Industry Forum to Discuss 2025 Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff】 To determine the feed-in tariff (FIT) for renewable energy for the upcoming year (2025), the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) held an online forum on October 15, in accordance with the Renewable Energy Development Act. The event gathered professionals from Taiwan’s wind and ocean energy sectors to discuss the "Initial Setup Cost Parameters for the 2025 Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff Calculation Formula." MOEA explained the results of the second subgroup meeting covering wind and ocean energy FIT categories, capacity ranges, and initial setup costs; it meanwhile sought feedback from participating industry representatives. The feedback will be further discussed in future subgroup meetings. 【Hospitals’ Carbon Emissions Exceed International Average: NT$10 Billion National Development Fund Proposed for Hospital Decarbonization】 Chi-Ming Peng, the Minister of Ministry of Environment (MOENV), addressed a legislative session on the MOENV’s project report (October 14th), during which legislators interpellated hospitals’ efforts to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. Despite their commitment to energy efficiency, the necessary energy demands of medical equipment limit the carbon reduction to a maximum of 18%. In response, Chi-Ming Peng revealed that MOENV plans to form a green task force with the Ministry of Economic Affairs to support hospitals in deep energy-saving efforts. He also mentioned that the chairperson of the National Development Council (NDC) has given verbal approval to allocate NT$10 billion from the National Development Fund to establish a Green Growth Fund as project funding. Dr. Langerbeck, who holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies, previously served as the Acting Director and Deputy Director of the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC), making significant contributions to trade exchanges between Germany and Malaysia. Her love for food, hiking, and her motivation to learn Chinese led her to decide to be stationed in Taiwan.
