EALS President Ramadhan Abubakar joined the Law Society of Kenya at their solemn prayer gathering, where he delivered a heartfelt message of unity, justice, and resilience, grounded in faith and the pursuit of righteousness. Opening with Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim, he reflected on the sacred power of prayer as a source of strength and guidance. He emphasized that as purveyors of justice, silence in the face of oppression is complicity, urging the legal fraternity to stand firm against injustice. He called for urgent action on the ongoing conflict in the DRC, where innocent lives are being lost, reminding all that Al-haqq yuqalu wa laa yubaalu—truth must be spoken, no matter the cost. Closer home, he condemned the resurgence of abductions and extra-judicial killings, reminding those in positions of power that Al-dhulm laa yadum—oppression does not last. He invoked the ummah’s duty to uphold adl (justice) and ihsan (excellence), stressing that the legal fraternity must unite as one jamaa'ah to overcome these challenges. He paid tribute to departed colleagues, stating, Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un—we belong to Allah, and to Him, we shall return. Their contributions, he said, remain etched in the profession, guiding those who continue the work of justice. "As we embrace the new year, may the spirit of ukhuwah (brotherhood and sisterhood) planted here flourish into hands of support, partnerships of success, and a resolve to conquer every hurdle. Tawakkal ‘ala Allah—trust in Allah, and march forward with resilience,” he urged. Indeed, Sabr (patience) and shukr (gratitude) will light the path as the fraternity remains steadfast in its duty. May justice, unity, and mercy prevail. EALS@30

📢 Opening of the 2025 Judicial Year | 76th Ordinary Session of the African Court ⚖ Under the theme “Advancing Justice Through Reparations”, the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights officially opened its 2025 Judicial Year, marking a pivotal moment in the pursuit of justice and accountability across the continent. In her inspiring address, Hon. Lady Justice Imani D. Aboud, President of the Court, emphasized: "We cannot achieve this transformative goal of reparative justice without your partnership and a shared vision of the people of Africa so that we can achieve a just and equitable Africa." The session was graced by H.E. Jose Maria Neves, the President of Cabo Verde as the Guest of Honor, reaffirming the Court’s unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and reparations for those whose rights have been violated.
