This week i spent time with some of girls in Dar es Salaam, we had a good time together learning from eachother, sharing what we have, connecting and discussing so many issues that concerns girls growth including); advocacy, activism and feminism deeping to help them define themselves better, reflecting on what they are doing and what they wish to do as girls with dreams. We discussed on how to access different opportunities for girls and your women’s development. This discussion is because for the past few months Women And Youth Movement (woyomo) established an online community for girls and young women to access opportunities and for past few months we have been doing a research on girls access to education and opportunities. I keep learning a lot from girls and young women, we know what we want and how we want, and at some point girls activist are doing a lot for them to thrive) my credit on this🙌🏽 Few recommendations from them are(; they need more mentorship sessions and they prefer 1:1 sessions and having a mentor to walk with along the way, they need more resources to support their ideas to come into lives, they need more support on accessing national and international opportunities that can help them to seat in decision making tables, they need community and family support on their movement/ activism. And they need to be trusted as they navigate and grow to be better version of themselves. Everyday is a learning opportunity and am loving it connecting, hearing what they have in mind and ofcuse as a big sister am proud of them as how I always insist to trust the process and believe on little steps they’re making because always “Progress is Progress” Cc Women And Youth Movement (woyomo)
