Just in: CyberRwanda featured in Nature Magazine! 🚨 We’ve summed up the top 3 lessons from one of the largest studies on teen sexual health across Africa. Co-created with over 1,000 Rwandan youth, the Nature study shows that sexually active teens using CyberRwanda reported a significant increase in contraceptive use — proving the power of digital health tools created for, and with, young people. Young people using CyberRwanda had improved in knowledge, attitudes, and confidence in seeking reproductive healthcare, which is often stigmatized. CyberRwanda is a digital platform funded by USAID and developed by YLabs in collaboration with Society for Family Health Rwanda and with guidance from the Rwanda Biomedical Center. Evaluated by University of California, Berkeley, it’s transforming how Rwandan adolescents access critical reproductive health information and services. Read more about CyberRwanda’s groundbreaking impact ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dRn4NR6X Thanks to all our amazing partners Society for Family Health Rwanda, University of California, Berkeley, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, The Agency Fund, and the Rwanda Biomedical Center!

We’re proud to see our team at the Children, Cities & Climate Action Lab (CCC) working hand in hand with young people to address the impacts of climate change and air pollution. The work done in Lagos and Nairobi to co-create advocacy campaigns is a perfect example of how youth need to be front and center to drive meaningful change. Check out the findings and see how these incredible young leaders are taking action:https://lnkd.in/d8wKZWzH

Technical Lead @ YLabs | Global Digital Mental Health Specialist | Public Health Physician & Psychiatrist

In the wake of #InternationalYouthDay on the 12 August, it's key to focus on the disproportionate impacts of climate change on youth and the need to create youth-led advocacy campaigns to meaningfully address climate hazards for young people. It's been a pleasure to lead the Children, Cities & Climate Action Lab (CCC) as technical lead for YLabs. The CCC Action Lab aims to identify and support the implementation of solutions that decarbonise cities and improve the health of children and young people worldwide. As part of this work, earlier this year, the CCC brought together 47 young people across two workshops hosted in Lagos and Nairobi to co-create climate advocacy campaigns in their cities to tackle air pollution. Findings from initial Action Labs in Nairobi and Lagos in Feb 2024 can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eGVtSqfM #airpollution #climatechange

    President and CEO, YLabs

I am thrilled to announce that starting next Monday, I will be serving as Chief Executive Officer at YLabs,  a global nonprofit organization that works with young people to create innovative digital solutions in health, economic opportunity, and climate resilience. Founded in 2014 at the Harvard Innovation Lab, and with current global footprints in 18 countries, YLabs addresses critical gaps in youth programs through youth-led, data-informed, and digital approaches. I am honored to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Rebecca Hope, outgoing CEO and co-founder of YLabs, who has played a pivotal role in its growth and impact over the past decade. I am deeply committed to upholding YLabs' mission and eager to collaborate with the amazing team of youth leaders, physicians, designers, and researchers to equip and enable young innovators to design a better future for us all.    I owe a debt of gratitude to the many individuals and institutions that have contributed to my unlearning, learning and preparation for this critical role! I know you are ready for the paradigm shift that is underway, to genuinely validate and center local youth voices, agency, and decision-making, and share my sense of urgency to accelerate its realization. I look forward to working with you! #YLabs #YouthEmpowerment #Innovation #Leadership #CEO

Today, as we celebrate International Youth Day, we sat down for a cross-generational talk about how mental health care has evolved throughout the years. Millennials, Zillennials, and Gen Z from our team shared their views on the persistent stigma and the urgent need for more accessible resources. One thing everyone agreed on: mental health remains a crucial priority for all generations - especially youth. #InternationalYouthDay #MentalHealthMatters

For two years, from 2021 to 2023, we piloted Rwanda’s first self-care digital platform, CyberRwanda, reaching 25,000 young people. Simultaneously, we conducted a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) with over 6,000 adolescents to evaluate the impact of this comprehensive platform. We are excited to invite you to a collaborative webinar hosted by YLabs, the University of California Berkeley, FHI 360, and SFH Rwanda. During this event, we will share key findings from our CyberRwanda school evaluation study and Youth Center Study. This discussion will offer valuable insights on how digital platforms like CyberRwanda can enhance adolescent health. Don’t miss out. Register here: https://lnkd.in/eGMCmnAA
