  • 🎬 And it’s a wrap for the Kampala Geopolitics Conference (KGC) 2024 !! 👉 For the 7th consecutive year, the KGC provided a platform for young people and students to interact and share ideas with experts, civil society actors and policy makers from Uganda 🇺🇬 and beyond. Over the past 2️⃣ days, we witnessed rich debates on various key issues, such as gender based violence in conflicts, global climate commitments in the context of Africa, the issue of jihadism, and the impact of oil revenue on Uganda’s future. 🙏 A big thank you to the panelists for sharing their insights with us, as well as to all the participants for their interest and their energy throughout the conference. Your presence among us and your questions created a truly unique space for dialogue and public debate ! We would like to thank the co-organizers of the #KGC2024, Makerere University, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and Alliance Française de Kampala, without whom this event could not have taken place. Through the KGC, the Embassy of France in Uganda remains committed to support and contribute to public debate in Uganda, with the aim of raising African voices on major global issues 🌍

  • On the occasion of #WorldFoodDay, the Embassy of France in Uganda reaffirms its commitment in the fight against malnutrition. 🤝 Together with ACTION CONTRE LA FAIM (ACF), we recently implemented the Uganda Nutrition and Resilience Project 🌾 🇺🇬. In Uganda, the prevalence of high malnutrition is a public health problem generating a vicious circle of poverty. In partnership with ACF, the French Embassy is fully committed to combating high malnutrition in the Nakivale and Kyangwali Refugee Settlements. Our project has helped to improve the nutritional status of 2,000 households through the provision of food vouchers, training in self-production and food self-sufficiency, in particular through the Optimised Land Use Model (OLUM) approach, a tool designed by ACF to enable refugee communities with little land to engage in intensive production of diversified foods. The OLUM approach promotes climate-smart and nutrition-sensitive agriculture, adapted to the context of the local environment. To learn more about the project, watch this video showcasing the story of Ester, a resident of the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement ⤵️ ⤵️ ⤵️
