  • Yesterday, we successfully conducted a Training of Trainers bringing together a group of new and experienced patrons, link persons, and our staff. These are the stakeholders with whom we work to further our mission of financial inclusion in rural Lwengo through our School Community Bank (SCOBA), Young Savers’ Club (YSC), and Possibility Hub programs. The day began with a speech from Katende Stephen, our Team Leader, who took the participants through the purpose of the training and our three key programs: SCOBA, YSC, and the Possibility Hub. Stephen shared Kisoboka Africa’s strategic goals for 2025, emphasizing each participant's critical role in making these ambitions a reality. Mr. Kyambadde, the Senior Education Officer of Lwengo District commended Kisoboka Africa's efforts to empower both parents and students through financial literacy. Our team held further sessions to equip participants with practical skills and strengthen their understanding of our mission, empowering them to become passionate ambassadors for our mission in their communities. The day ended with a thought-led panel discussion, where experienced link persons and patrons shared their real-life experiences, valuable lessons learned, and best practices for strengthening SCOBAs and Young Savers’ Clubs. We believe that every participant left the session more inspired, more informed, and more committed to driving impactful change. #ItsPossible #FinancialInclusion #KisobokaAfrica

  • Happening now at NM Gardens, Mbirizi is a 1-day Training of Trainers (TOT) session by Kisoboka Africa. This event aims to empower both new and existing patrons (teachers guiding school savings groups), link persons (community members or individuals supporting SCOBAs and our staff with essential skills to strengthen financial literacy, savings culture, and mentorship within schools and communities. These play a crucial role in guiding and supporting our School Community Banks (SCOBA) and Young Savers’ Club initiatives within schools and communities. Participants will gain practical strategies for managing SCOBAs, fostering youth engagement, and ensuring program sustainability. We look forward to insightful discussions, networking, and actionable takeaways to expand financial empowerment, reach more women and youth and support them on their journey to chart their way out of poverty. #ItsPossible #FinancialInclusion #KisobokaAfrica #SchoolCommunityBanks

  • #ItsPossibleForHer This week, we continue to celebrate the bold, visionary women who challenge the status quo and uplift others on their journey to financial independence and leadership. Women like Mrs. Nagawa Lucy, a 42-year-old mother of 5, who began her journey as the secretary of Kitambuza SCOBA, and has grown into a mentor and inspirational community leader. Her leadership aspirations, once confined to their Kitambuza community initiatives, have propelled her into a Woman Councilor representative for Ndagwe Sub-county at the district level, where she now advocates for broader community development, supporting the women to access government programs like the Parish Development Model funds. Driven by her passion for community growth, Mrs. Lucy mentors youth into impact-driven leaders in the Kitambuza community. One 28-year-old male, who once struggled with taking care of his family has been empowered with financial skills and is currently constructing a house for his family. The other, a young female, has been trained with mobilization and financial training to efficiently run operations of Kitambuza Scoba. Then there is Mrs. Kyamazima Annet, the chairperson of Lwengenyi SCOBA, who has been at the forefront of the transformation of this SCOBA from zero savings into a fully operational savings and loan association—one that now provides loans to both members and community members of Lwenyonyi Village. To boost the SCOBA's earnings, the group has constructed a shopping center that will not only house the SCOBA's permanent offices but also be rented out to the general public to generate additional income for the SCOBA. Through collective effort, she has also led the launch of several income-generating ventures such as bricklaying, and provided development loans to over 100 people, creating lasting financial security in their village. These stories exemplify the power of opportunity, leadership, and collective action. It reminds us that when women are given the chance to lead, entire communities thrive, life-changing projects are put in place, economies strengthen, and lasting change becomes possible. 💪 At Kisoboka, we strive to reach more women, create more SCOBAs and empower more women leaders. Join us in empowering women to break free from chains of poverty. 🔗 Support us: https://shorturl.at/L6tHA #WomensMonth #FinancialInclusion #KisobokaAfrica #ItsPossible4Her #WomenLeaders

Unlocking Opportunities for Rural Youth in Kanoni Village Today, I had the an opportunity to meet an inspiring group of young people in Kanoni Village, Lwengo District, under our Youth Enable Project in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. The Youth Enable Project is more than just a program, it’s a movement to empower youth through agribusiness. Our goal? To create jobs for over 800 young people across 27 youth groups in Lwengo, equipping them with the skills and resources to build thriving businesses. I witnessed the group prototyping a business idea to solve a critical issue in their community by improving farmers' access to agricultural inputs. I can't wait to witness their innovation My Message to the group . 1. Uniqueness Matters: Many people run similar businesses, but what sets you apart? Your unique value proposition will make all the difference. 2. Proper Planning is Everything: A solid plan isn’t just a document; it’s the backbone of a sustainable business. From finances to operations, planning determines long-term success. 3. Legalize Your Business: Registration opens doors to funding, partnerships, and opportunities beyond your immediate community. It’s a game-changer. Seeing their energy, commitment, and drive reminded me why I love empowering rural communities. We are empowering young people to be the face of agribusiness in Uganda and create meaningful jobs in the sector. Exciting times ahead! #YouthEnableProject #Agribusiness #YouthEmpowerment #YoungAfricaWorks #Entrepreneurship
