Save the Children Uganda
Non-profit Organizations
We work hand in hand with others to adapt and create new solutions for children facing crisis now and in the future.
About us
We have worked in Uganda since 1959 and have programmes throughout the country. We work in partnerships – with communities, the government, civil society and the private sector – to deliver programmes that have a lasting impact, inspire change and uphold children’s rights. Our work supports long-term development and humanitarian emergencies, and bridges the gap between the two.

During a courtesy meeting with the Office of the Prime Minister, Save the Children, presented appreciation for the progress and achievements registered in refugee management in Uganda, especially the needs of refugee children and their communities. "Despite the grappling funding, Uganda is still committed and maintains an open door policy for refugees and we are glad to achieve this with partners like you who have impacted so much on the protection and education of refugee children," said Patrick Okello, Commissioner Refugee Management. Famari Barro, the Country Director of Save the Children Uganda, reechoed Save the Children's commitment to continue collaborating with the Office of the Prime Minister to support Refugee Management in Uganda.

Governments, donors, the UN, humanitarian agencies and NGOs must recognise fragility as a critical risk factor for girls and build new, fully-funded coalitions to tackle it. #DayOfTheGirlChild
-
In fragile countries, girls face an increased risk of child marriage due to being out of school, unintended pregnancy or gender-based violence. Globally, one girl is married every three minutes, but in extremely fragile countries that number rises to one every thirty seconds. #DayOfTheGirlChild

Beyond their commitment to teaching and learning, teachers have important responsibilities to ensure all children's physical and emotional safety, particularly those at risk, e.g children with disabilities. #TeachersDay #ValuingTeacherVoices
