CEO of The 10,000 Interns Foundation, First Black woman to swim for Great Britain | TIME List, Forbes 30 Under 30, Global 100 Most Influential People of African Descent | Author & Speaker

How it feels when you find out one of your alumni is giving the keynote to the incoming interns... Last week I joined one of the most incredible organisations on our programme, Science Museum Group as they welcomed another 20 interns from our 10,000 Black Interns programme. I am so proud of every organisation that commits to create opportunities for our talented students. But when you see the process working full circle, it's just another feeling altogether. Tafadzwa Iman Tadu is a superstar alum of our class of 2023 (now working in Collections Management at the museum) She told the incoming 2024 cohort that their internships [would be] 'a vehicle for your career trajectory' This is why we create these opportunities. She went on to tell us that 'the journey is not a straight line and this is part of the wiggle that you will go on to becoming who you want to me' We love being a part of your journey.. Both the amazing organisations that are changing their culture and representation through our programme And our amazing interns who are truly changing the face of British business. Applications are opening for 2024/25 real soon; orgs and future interns, come and change the world with us! We are The 10,000 Interns Foundation

On behalf of the 10,000 Interns Foundation, we want to express our sincere gratitude for your engagement and participation in the pilot and two full cycles of the 10,000 Able Interns programme. As you know, the initiative aimed to create paid internship opportunities for Disabled students and graduates across the UK, modelled on our flagship programme 10,000 Black Interns. We are thrilled to report that the programme resulted in a resounding 300 internships! We're incredibly proud of the programme's achievements, but as we approach our Jubilee Year (achieving our original goal of providing 10,000 internships) and look forward to the next decade, we're taking a strategic pause to maximise our impact for the future. This means carefully evaluating the 10,000 Able Interns programme to understand its successes and how we can best support our Disabled interns and alumni going forwards. We understand you may have questions or areas in which you would like to collaborate further. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at general@10000internsfoundation.com

    Experience Design Intern at 26DX

I’m excited to announce the completion of my internship at 26 DX where I had an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in a dynamic and innovative environment! Over the past 6 weeks, I’ve gained invaluable insights and hands-on experience that have greatly shaped my professional growth. My Key Highlights 🚀 Learning and Development: I had the privilege of working alongside a team of great minds, gaining exposure to cutting-edge technologies and industry practices. Additionally enhanced my skills with software tools like Adobe XD and Figma. Projects and Contributions: Working with the XD Team responsible for user experience (UX), user interface (UI) design, as well as UX strategy and research, I contributed to various projects, including resizing poster banners for ASDA Money and updating text, imagery, and designs for Anchor Squeezy Butter’s website. Applying knowledge to real-world scenarios and seeing the impact of my work on the company's objectives was very rewarding. Mentorship and Guidance: The mentorship I received was exceptional. My mentors and colleagues were always available to offer guidance, support, and constructive feedback, creating a culture of continuous improvement. Special thank you to Liz Worsley, Christian Pass, Katie Calderwood MCIPD, Tyler Sumnall and Calum Scrimgeour for their guidance and encouragement throughout my internship journey! Collaborative Environment: Working at 26dx taught me the importance of teamwork and effective communication. Collaborating with different teams across different functions was a valuable experience. I also had the opportunity to learn about various teams and their roles through Zoom and in person meetings. Finally, I am truly grateful for this opportunity and this would not have been possible without the 10,000 Black Interns organisation. Hear from Mary on her experience working at Ageas UK as a Compliance and Legal Support intern. #summerinternship #earlycareers #10000blackinterns

    Founder @ Parah Insights ✍🏾 | Watson’s Daily Ambassador 🌍

Over the past six weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of interning as a Compliance and Legal Support intern at Ageas UK. My time there has been nothing short of amazing! I had the opportunity to spend some time with a wide variety of teams, such as the Compliance, Legal and Company Secretary departments. I learned something new with each new department I was with. For example, I grew in my knowledge of what the new Consumer Duty rules are, its importance and witnessed how it can affect a business first hand. My highlight of the internship was attending the Court of Appeal with Bruce Love to sit in on a case, as part of my time with the Legal team. I got to witness the barristers make and defend their arguments, and had the opportunity to see the formalities and processes involved in attending court. I also thoroughly enjoyed researching and presenting my thoughts on a new policy the company want to introduce, to senior management staff, as well as contributing to a new training programme as part of my time with the Company Secretary team! This internship has allowed me to grow in my communication, initiative and team work skills. It has helped me to gain some clarity about the direction I want my career and life to head in. I’ve also formed some amazing new connections, individuals I’ll stay in touch with! From not knowing much about the sector, to now leaving with lots of knowledge and experience, I have learned a lot with my time at Ageas UK! It’s a bittersweet feeling, because my six weeks are up, but I’m also excited about what the future holds! A huge thank you to Sarah Cook, Nicola Hinch, Emma Dunford, Claire Marsh FCIS, Sophie Lane, Susie Lamb, Charlotte Barrett, FEPAA and many more individuals for making my time there a smooth, insightful and fun one! A big thank you to the 10,000 Black Interns, The 10,000 Interns Foundation for making this internship possible! 🙌🏾
