There is a fine line between stress, pre-burnout and final burnout. It’s important to know the difference and why women are susceptible. Do we pay enough attention to sanctuary trauma in the workplace? If leaders don't support employees there are far-reaching consequences.  Sanctuary trauma is a term that refers to the deep emotional and psychological harm experienced by individuals when the places, people, or institutions they turn to for safety and support, fail them. Originally used in the context of veterans returning from war, this concept has since been expanded to include various situations where someone seeks help or protection but instead encounters neglect, betrayal, or harm. This could also include hospitals and healthcare practitioners, a mental health professional, a support group, or even their own family however, when these sanctuaries fail to provide the expected needed care, or worse, when they add to the trauma. Sanctuary trauma in the workplace is a possibility that we don't pay much attention to. Some people never think to make a record of an incident in their place of work that bothered them or made them feel uncomfortable or even distressed. Employer Duty of Care around Sexual Harassment by Dorothy Dalton via 3Plus International Employers have a responsibility to create a safe and respectful workplace, and a key part of this duty of care is to prevent sexual harassment.
