Sexual harassment is not just inappropriate; it is illegal and can have serious emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on those who experience it. In extreme cases it is traumatic. Employers are legally obliged to take proactive steps to ensure that all employees feel safe and protected at work. They must take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment by any perpetrator, including third parties such as customers, clients, and members of the public.
