Eddington is being developed in collaboration with Cambridge University. The new district provides modern, affordable homes for University staff and key workers, with 1,500 homes for sale on the open market. The cladding contract for Lot S2 comprises aluminium ppc panels for the 4 blocks, in addition to Mechslip brickslip bays with GRC features in Portland Shade on Block A. The 4-5 storey buildings have all been designed and built to the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5, BREEAM Excellent and the new Part L Building Regulations, with the new homes producing at least 31% less carbon emissions. By using Hydro low carbon, #recycle grade 4.0 aluminium for the subgrid, supplied by RJ Facade Systems, over 13.5 tonnes of embodied carbon were saved compared with standard European aluminium.
