𝐀𝐱𝐞 𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐱 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 2030, 𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 The North Sea Transition Taskforce has called on the UK Government to rapidly establish a long-term, integrated plan to deliver a just energy transition in the North Sea. Its new report, published today, finds the window of opportunity to secure the future of the North Sea is closing fast - but says that acting now could deliver economic growth, green jobs, energy security and climate leadership. The event had been due to take place tomorrow (Tuesday 1st April), but will now take place on May 20th. A spokesman for Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, which organises the Ultimate Masterclass Festival, said: “Harry Redknapp is unable to attend the ‘Evening with Sporting Legends’ event due to take place this coming Tuesday (1st April).  “As a result, the event is being rescheduled and will now take place on the 20th of May. All tickets will be valid for the new date, and further information will be sent to ticketholders by the venue.” All ticketholders will receive further information today.

It comes as part of an update on the £150million City Centre and Beach Masterplan given to the council's finance and resources committee. Artist's impression images of the Castlegate show a resurfaced square with trees and greenery along with ample seating and bike racks, making the area much more inviting for locals and visitors. 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐱 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐮𝐩 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐠𝐚𝐩 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐊 There are fresh calls for the windfall tax to be brought to an end after a new report predicted that Aberdeen will have the least economic growth of any UK city in the next three years. Aberdeen will see the slowest growing gross value added (GVA) of just 0.9% according to the EY 2025 regional economic forecast. It is also bottom of the table for negative household income growth, averaging -0.4% from 2025 to 2028. EY said it was "hard to dispute" that the oil and gas policies of the UK Government - namely the Energy Profits Levy - had played a key part in accelerating the decline of North Sea production, which is now rippling through the North-east economy.
