Is there (social media) life after Twitter? As you might have heard, we at ACEVO have decided to stop being active on X/Twitter and will close our account permanently by the end of the year. When we made the announcement, the team got several messages asking for more details about our decision. So, Jane Ide OBE HonDUniv , Adeela Warley Warley, chief executive of CharityComms, and Zoe Amar FCIM , a well-known and highly respected thought leader and expert in all things digital in the sector, got together to record an episode of our Leadership Worth Sharing podcast. They talked about deciding to leave or stay on X, what's next for social media platforms, and how engaging with stakeholders has been changing in most - if not all - digital channels. You can listen to it (or read the transcript) on our website. Leadership worth sharing is also available on all major podcast platforms. https://lnkd.in/eAbFSPTU

Sector leaders’ voices are crucial to developing a new relationship with government and a new Civil Society Covenant to underpin it. We need to hear from leaders of civil society organisations of all shapes and sizes, operating across the breadth of causes, communities, missions and localities. Join us in this opportunity to shape what has the potential to re-set the policy environment that civil society leaders and their organisations operate in, for the benefit of the people and causes we exist to serve. The session fosters accountability by encouraging leaders to create action plans with ownership and partner with a peer for support. The peer-to-peer approach is designed to create continuous journey beyond the workshop, where plans are more likely to be implemented – leading to a lasting impact. In focussing on tangible actions and by holding each other accountable, leaders ensure that DEI becomes a core value embedded within the organisation, creating a sustainable shift that stakeholders and service users will experience over time. Back in 2021, Yvonne Field The Ubele Initiative was a guest on our podcast, Leadership worth sharing. She talked about the similarity and differences of leading community activism in the 80s and today, those cataclysmic moments that inspire change, and how the next generation of leaders will continue the fight for social justice. It was a great conversation, so we are thrilled to have Yvonne as our opening speaker at #ACEVOFest 2025, where she will talk about leading with purpose. Race Equity Series: mission-driven race equity Join us on 12 November for a lively discussion on how mainstream civil society can transition towards a deeper and irreversible commitment to race equity. We will explore important issues, such as why anti-racist action is so reliant on there being visible crises (e.g., Covid-19, the murder of George Floyd and xenophobic and racist riots), and how some civil society organisations are attempting to make anti-racism central to why they get out of bed in the morning. This session will be brought to you by a lineup that includes Sanjiv Lingayah and guest practitioner Mandeep Rupra, director of equity and belonging at Citizens Advice. Book your spot and share with your colleagues, as this session is open to all in civil society. https://lnkd.in/eU-waHyK

ACEVO has partnered with third-sector consultants and recruiters Eastside People, to launch an ESG (environmental, social and governance) assessment and benchmarking tool for the charity sector. This innovative, free online tool has been designed specifically for charities. It will enable organisations to review and report on their progress towards environmental best practices, effective social impact, and good governance. We’re excited to support this initiative in recognising how important it is (and will increasingly become) for charities to demonstrate progress and commitment to these areas. https://lnkd.in/gPe8y_Sn
