TODAY - Samantha Chandler is back to present about Child Criminal Exploitation Through a Behavioral Lens - 1 CEU included! Join the livestream to engage with Samantha on this topic, or enjoy the recording + on-demand CEUs when you're ready! ✔️Register: https://hubs.li/Q02WPkdf0 Webinar Description: The aim of this course is to provide BCBAs with an understanding of what Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) is, placing emphasis on using behaviour analytic concepts to define elements of CCE (for example grooming and county lines). We will consider the EO's and vulnerabilities that put young people at higher risk of being criminally exploited, considering how we can support with these antecedent factors as Behaviour Analysts and what our science has to offer. Criminal exploitation is child abuse where children and young people are manipulated and coerced into committing crimes (NSPCC, 2024). These factors increase the risk of a young person being criminally exploited; poverty and areas of deprivation, trauma, abuse and neglect, challenging behaviour, school absence and exclusions, special educational needs, care experience, substance misuse and mental health issues (https://hubs.li/Q02WPgnN0, 2023) We will consider relevant statistics showing us how prevalent CCE is (UK & US), alongside considering what current interventions are in place. Further to this, we will then consider how behaviour analytic interventions may be appropriate to support young people at risk of CCE, and how our science can be applied to this specific societal concern. #BehaviorLive #ContinuingEducation #CEUs #ACEProvider #VirtualLearning #AppliedBehaviorAnalysis #BehaviorAnalysis #BCBA #RBT #BACB #LiveEvent #Webinar Achieve Behaviour Consultancy

Good morning all, thank you for your continued support Tonight I am hosting a course with BehaviorLive: Child Criminal Exploitation through a Behavioural Lens Why should CCE be a focus for behaviour analysts? - In the year to March 2023, 14,420 children in need assessments in England recorded criminal exploitation as a risk of harm, an increase from 10,140 in 2022. - The barriers to the identification and reduction of CCE, as presented by forensic and clinical psychologists, are barriers our science can support to break down. See below risk factors of CCE, as set out by Gov.Uk I look forward to interacting with you around this tonight Samantha Chandler BCBA UK-BA

Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) is a national priority in the UK, however researchers have identified that a mistrust of professionals, and professionals interaction styles, are hindering young people's engagement with services and therefore outcomes for CCE cases. As Behaviour Analysts, I feel we have a role to play in this societal issue, to bridge the gap between professionals and young people using our science. https://lnkd.in/e4PjUgea

Today I have been researching content for my next course, Child Criminal Exploitation through a Behavioural Lens. Practitioners interactions are vital in uncovering CCE, however Marshall (2024) found that a lack of appreciation for young people's experiences among practitioners is hindering how much information is shared / gathered. The practitioners ability to pair with the young person hugely impacts how preventable CCE is and what support can be provided. https://lnkd.in/e6H8mNPq

Lets talk about relationship and connection building in the context of working with vulnerable young people and adults In ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) we refer to this scientific concept as pairing Research shows a strong relationship can increase skills building, reduce challenging behaviour, increase quality of life and enhance choice. Plus, it's important to build connection for general wellbeing all round! How can we achieve this in practice? *Reciprocity: ensuring turn-taking in interaction, acknowledging all communication requests and attempts (McLaughlin & Carr, 2005) *Validation: Identifying and labelling emotions, empathising and offering support *Un-conditional positive regard: Displaying behaviours which indicate positive regard which does not alter based on the persons behaviours *Delivering preferred items and activities, which are not dependant on specific expectations being met or on specific behaviours occurring (McLaughlin & Carr, 2005). *Provide choice in everything - food, environment, items, activities, support strategies, etc I hope this information was helpful, feel free to write your comments or thoughts below

Hello all, I am always happy to provide personalised behaviour support training to families and organizations, however, if this is difficult for you or your organization to fit into your schedules, myself and my colleague created an online course which covers the basics of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). The course is one hour in duration and is a good place to start if you are looking for an introduction to PBS. https://lnkd.in/eut9SjzR
