There's going to be some grumbling here and there, because there's an old world that doesn't want to die. Following our meeting with Sports Boulevard Foundation we decided to go and check out its iconic cycling and pedestrian bridge. 👀🚴♀️🚶 Sports Boulevard is a 135 kilometre active travel artery that is currently being developed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is without doubt the most impressive commitment to active travel infrastructure we have seen at a city scale. I would be interested to hear of other examples across the world that are similar. Can walking make you "smarter"? Researchers studied the cognitive performance of children after a 20-minute walk. It significantly improved reading comprehension. From the researchers: "Single, acute bouts of moderately intense aerobic exercise (i.e., walking) may improve the cognitive control of attention in preadolescent children" (Hillman et al., 2009).
