UKREiiF - This year we attended the property event in Leeds. Del Hossain chaired the Women In Architecture panel discussion on the imbalance of the gender pay gap. Other highlights included, talks such as the ‘ Building Safety Act’ which hammered home the fact that larger residential buildings need two staircases. #Leeds also seems like a pretty great city. #property #localauthority #development #architecture

Sometimes you need an emotional wake-up call for things to really sink in This movie by niceaunties does exactly that I'm passionate about oceans and eliminating waste, yet I get lost in reports, statistics and graphs Fundamentally, it is about our relationship with Earth This video makes is undoubtedly clear that we are part of nature. Nature's loss is our loss. Plastic waste, is not something far away in the great ocean plastic patch, the (micro) plastics are literally in our bellies already. #plasticwaste #regeneration #circulareconomy P.S. Thanks niceaunties (see comments for link) for the video and Perry Haydn Taylor 💚 for pointing it out

Elizabeth Line - linking spaces A few of us had a group trip travelling between some of the Elizabeth line stations and there is a calm & comforting symmetry about it, even just in the escalator ride going up, infact just experience the virtual ride here. #ElizabethLine #tfl #transportarchitecture

Robo Dog Invited or Invasive? CCTV cameras are ubiquitous in cities today. Now, digital security dogs may be joining the lineup. The #bostonrobotics dog, which has garnered a lot of attention, is being considered for use in some retail and public spaces as security. I was recently invited to test the robot in a public space as part of an experiment in public psychological safety & perception. It was fascinating to observe the robotic presence and auto movements in the public realm. Some people felt they should pet it as you might to a real dog, because of its naturalistic movement, but soon realised it was hard plastic they were patting. The question arises: Are we in the early days of Robocop or Robodog even? Is this invited or invasive? What do you think? #robotic #robodog #security #publicspace
