We were in the finals! 😀 Last night we had the pleasure of being finalists in the Innovative Business of the Year category at the SoGlos - Gloucestershire's leading media brand business awards. With huge lit up tractors along with plastic horses it was definitely a night to remember at Hartpury Indoor Equine Centre! With stiff competition we didn't win this year but as we haven't even completed our first year in business we hadn't expected to even be nominated, let alone get to the finals! Watch out next year!💅 Massive congratulations to the winners, Paradise Tattoo Studio, deserved winners with all the great work they do ❤️ Thanks to all the sponsors and it was great to meet everyone at the events along the way - thanks for all the support we received! #SGGBA #Gloucestershire #Cheltenham #SoGlos #Businessawards
About us
AirDrate Rehydrating Airplane Ear Plugs - No More Airplane Ear Pain. The world's first patented and registered class one medical device solution for Airplane Ear pain. Here to disrupt the market! Did you know that each year, an estimated 1.5 billion airline passengers suffer with excruciating ear pain and deafness? Simply placed in the ears 40 minutes before landing or as you need, our unique, award winning ear plugs comfortably and hygienically rehydrate the eardrum without adding excess moisture. The eardrum can then flex and move under pressure, completely preventing the onset of ear pain and resulting hearing loss. Now launched in the UK! A Design Council award winner, developed by aviation specialists.

Why do you need to protect your child's ears when flying? Our happiest childhood memories are often holidaying with our families and the excitement of flying on the plane is a big part of this. Until that is, the awful ear pain begins. We are told to swallow, suck a sweet, chew gum, hold our nose and blow, but nothing works. Pressure builds on take off and then parents and children alike dread the landing when the pain is at it's worst. Studies show 64% of children suffer from Airplane Ear - inflight ear pain and deafness from muffled 'full' ears they struggle to 'pop'. If the ears do 'pop' this can make the pain intense. This pain is due to Otic Barotrauma - damage to the eardrum from the effects of pressure. The eardrum is unable to stretch due to dehydrating in the dry cabin atmosphere, becoming rigid and inflamed. So what can we do to protect our children's ears from what can be in worst cases, permanent hearing damage? We can encourage them to help their Eustachian Tube to open which is what can happen when we swallow, yawn or chew. Drinking water or sucking a (sugar free!) lollipop on take off can help. The problem is however when the Eustachian tube will not open to enable the ears to 'pop'. Sometimes the pressure changes are just too fast for the body to deal with, such as on descent. Sometimes the Eustachian tube in one or both ears is dysfunctional and won't open. In this case the standard so called 'pressure relieving' ear plugs on the market will not work and the ear drum can even rupture causing pain, damage and possible scarring. AirDrate Rehydrating Earplugs for inflight Airplane Ear pain relief, work by ensuring that the eardrum remains as flexible as it is on the ground and not allowing it to dry out and become rigid in the dry cabin atmosphere. It works by evaporation so no liquid is placed in the ears, they are light and easy to wear. Just pop in 40 minutes before the plane lands to completely prevent ear pain and damage inflight. Ideally for age 10+ but message us for use by younger children and a free earplug to try for size. Go to www.airdrate.com for more info. #earpain #travelwithchild #familyholidays #audiology #parents

'Why do my ears 'pop' on the plane and how can I stop it?' is a question our aviation and audiology experts often get asked here at AirDrate. The sensation of 'popping' is actually the body trying to help the eardrum deal with the differing levels of pressure as the plane takes off and lands. The 'pop' is when the Eustachian tube (a muscular tube just behind the eardrum that usually remains shut) opens to relieve the pressure on the stretched ear drum and it 'pops' back into place. Unfortunately many people have trouble 'popping' their ears, either both or one. Their Eustachian tube doesn't work as it should. Sometimes it can eventually 'pop' after lots of swallowing, holding your nose etc, but for some it just never works. The longer it takes for the ears to 'pop' the more painful the ear can become. The ear drum is stretched under the pressure and becomes inflamed and painful. This is exacerbated by the fact that the air in the cabin is very dry and the ear drum dries out very quickly and becomes rigid and unable to stretch. If the ear then finally manages to 'pop' this can be very painful as it snaps back suddenly into place and is inflamed and damaged from the pressure. If the ear doesn't pop at all then the pain can build and become unbearable, especially when the plane starts to descend and the pressure changes quickly. Referred pain can even be felt in the head, neck and sinus passages. So in an ideal world you do want your ears to pop and don't want to try and stop this. However you don't want the ear drum to be painful and damaged, whether this is before the ear 'pops' or whether it is unable to pop at all. This is where keeping the ear drum at a normal hydration level is essential. You don't want excess moisture in the ear canal as this can cause other problems such as ear infections. So if this sounds all too familiar, how can you prevent the pain whether the ear drum 'pops' or not? AirDrate is unique, specifically developed and medically registered, to gently rehydrate the ear drum and keep it at the correct hydration level using new science materials and without adding any moisture into the ear canal. This means that you can finally fly without anxiety around pain and make the most of your destination when you land pain free!
